How lucky were we to have Cate Campbell visit Surat Pool on Saturday?! 🤩

It was fantastic to see everyone enjoying the drills, learning from the best, and watching Cate demonstrate her incredible technique in the water.

A huge thank you to MRC for making this opportunity possible, to Miss Shelley, Mel from Mitchell Pool, and Kyle from St George Aquatics for lending a hand, and to my amazing team for ensuring the day ran smoothly and safely.

Olympic swimmer Cate Campbell will be at Surat tomorrow delivering a swim clinic. All lanes will be in use therefore the pool will be closed for public swimming until 4pm.

Maranoa Regional Council would like to advise that the Cate Campbell Regional Swim Clinic that was scheduled to be hosted at Wallumbilla Pool on Saturday, 21 March has had a venue change and will now take place at the Surat Pool from 9am, Saturday 21 March 🏊🏽

Please note there has been no impact to the Mitchell clinic.

Excitingly, there are still spots available at both the Surat and Mitchell Clinics in both age groups, so please head to the bookings platform to register if you are interested in building your swim skills! Remaining spots are very limited!

Temporary Closure: Surat Swimming Pool

Maranoa Regional Council wishes to advise the community that the Surat Swimming Pool will be temporarily closed on Saturday, 7 March 2026, from 9:30am to 12:30pm to accommodate a scheduled swim training session.

Following the session, the pool will reopen to the public from 3:00pm to 6:00pm for regular afternoon use.

Council appreciates the community’s understanding and cooperation during this short interruption.

🔔 CLOSED SATURDAY MORNING 🔔

South West Team swimmers will be training at Surat Pool this Saturday, 7 March 2026 as they prepare for upcoming State Trials.

To allow the team adequate space and a safe training environment, the pool will be closed during the morning session.

The pool will reopen to the public from 3:00pm – 6:00pm as usual.

Thank you for your patience and support of our local swimmers as they work towards representing our region.

POOL IS NOW CLOSED 4:50pm due to lightning within 15km. Sorry everyone!! Hope you all get some rain!!

Remember: Regulations require the pool to stay closed for 30 minutes after the last thunder/lightning within 15 km radius of the pool.

⚡️ Pool Safety Reminder – Stormy Weather ⚡️

With all these storms rolling through, please understand that we can’t open the pool when lightning is around.
As per the Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations (GSPO), both the pool and surrounding areas must be evacuated if there’s lightning in the area due to the high risk of electrical shock – water is a great conductor of electricity!

This applies to both indoor and outdoor pools, and everyone must remain in a safe building or vehicle for at least 30 minutes after the last thunder is heard.

🏊‍♀️ Race Night is Back! 🏊‍♂️

All kids and families welcome — you don’t need to be in squad or swimming lessons to join in! It’s all about having fun, practicing races, and enjoying a great Friday night at the pool. 💦

I’m looking for a few helpers to make it happen each week (timekeepers, marshal, set up/pack up crew). Please only put your name down if you can commit to Friday nights — it really helps things run smoothly.
