We’re helping spread the word about responsible pet ownership with our paws-itively wonderful pet-themed displays throughout the library!

From playful pups and curious cats in our front window to shelves full of fantastic stories featuring furry friends, there’s something for animal lovers of all ages to enjoy.

🎨✨ What a fantastic afternoon at Surat Library!

Participants got creative today as part of the Digital & You Shadow Boxes workshop, transforming pre-cut designs into unique pieces of framed art. From colourful cats and sleepy koalas to elegant turtles and decorative dog designs, every project showcased individual creativity and style.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and embraced the challenge of learning something new. It was wonderful to see participants exploring digital technology in a hands-on way while creating artwork they can proudly display at home.

Special thanks to Mitch from the Digital & You team for guiding participants through the process and helping make the session such a success.

We love seeing what our community creates, and today’s finished pieces were simply amazing! 👏🎨🖼️

🚁 What a fantastic morning at Surat Library!

Today’s Introduction to Drones workshop gave participants the opportunity to explore the exciting world of drone technology, from understanding different drone types and their capabilities to learning the basics of safe and responsible flying.

After a much warmer start inside the library, where we gained insights into aerial photography, recreation, agriculture and practical drone applications, the group headed outdoors for an interactive, hands-on flight demonstration, where they saw drones in action and jumped at the chance to fly them themselves.

A big thank you to Daniel for sharing his knowledge and expertise, supporting participants throughout the session, and helping make the workshop such a success.

Thank you also to everyone who joined us on a chilly Surat morning to learn something new.

Digital & You workshops are proudly supported by the State Library of Queensland and Queensland Government, helping adults build digital skills, confidence and connection through technology.

Join us for a guided SilVR Virtual Reality Experience, specially designed for seniors. Using easy-to-use virtual reality headsets, participants can explore beautiful destinations, revisit familiar places, experience different cultures, and enjoy immersive wellbeing experiences from the comfort of the library.

Looking for a creative project for your home or a unique handmade gift?

Join us for our Shadow Boxes Workshop and create a stunning layered artwork using a Cricut cutting machine. Choose from one of four designs and assemble your piece step-by-step at a relaxed pace, with guidance throughout the session.
