On Saturday 8 August, Sussex Inlet and Cudmirrah Brigades combined to provide assistance with pile burns to a resident along Sussex Inlet Road. Members worked with the resident in preparing the site prior to the burn day, then undertook the ignition of the piles while maintaining control of the piles during the burn, and then "blacking out" (or extinguishing) the piles. The owner was kept up to date during the burn activity and was left with instructions (periodic pile inspections) from the RFS on their departure from the property. The land owner was very happy with the result, and this burn activity also provided members with a hands-on training opportunity.

Members of your Sussex Inlet RFS undertook structural fire theory and practical training today. As the next fire danger period approaches, we'll be doing a heap more!

With winter now here our fellow comrades at Fire and Rescue NSW do FREE home fire safety visits, this includes checking already installed fire alarms to ensure they are in date…. Yes they have a used by date!! Change your battery or install a new alarm
