Sutherland Shire Greenweb

Sutherland Shire Greenweb What is Greenweb? This program complements the council's Bushcare program which focuses on bushland regeneration activities on public land in the Shire.

The Sutherland Shire Council's Greenweb program aims to protect and enhance the Shire's native plant and animal populations by identifying key areas of bushland habitat and establishing corridors to connect them. These corridors make it easier for the movement of both plants and animals, a move that is essential to the maintenance of healthy populations and diversity. Although Sutherland Shire's G

reenweb incorporates both public and private lands, its main target is private property owners within the Shire, particularly those of you within the Greenweb network. Greenweb's focus is on voluntary participation, with incentives to encourage our residents to participate. Initially, the council's Greenweb officer inspects your property and provide a free garden consultation. This visit may involve identifying appropriate native plant species for the area, appropriate landscaping to encourage native fauna, invasive w**d species, and answering any other environmental or horticultural questions that the resident may have. Regular information regarding the Greenweb program is provided to participating residents together with free native tube plants from the council's nursery and, in some instances, a second green waste bin and/or bush regeneration bags for free w**d collection is available.
