Exciting News! Due to the popularity of the Term 2 Walking Basketball program, we have decided we will continue in Term 3.

Dates: Tuesday 18 July – 19 September 2023 (excluding Tuesday 5/9/2023 due to an all-day event being held at the stadium)
Time: 10am-11am
Cost: Free
Venue: Sutherland Basketball Stadium – Rawson Avenue, Sutherland (behind the Swimming Centre)

The good news is you can prevent diabetes by including regular physical activity and making healthy food choices.

Staying physically active is the single most important thing you can do to stay fit and independent, as you get older. Age is no barrier, research shows that exercise, at any age, is worth the effort. If you are in any doubt about exercise, please talk to your doctor.

There’s a host of health reasons to stay active and it doesn’t have to be ā€˜serious business’ — being active can be fun, especially if you can socialise at the same time. Exercise also helps keep your mind active and improves your quality of life.

It’s National Diabetes Week (9-15 July 2023), an important reminder about the risk of developing type 2 diabetes as you age. There are currently over 750,000 Australians living with diabetes aged 65 years and over.

The good news is you can prevent diabetes by including regular physical activity and making healthy food choices.

Strong international evidence shows diabetes prevention programs can help prevent type 2 diabetes in up to 58 per cent of cases.
