Join our City Cycling Course this June and build real confidence riding in traffic. In this hands-on session, you’ll learn how to position yourself on the road, choose safer routes, and navigate intersections with confidence - all in real riding conditions.

In principle, we support the Bike Network ideas specified on Page 39
An additional North/South link connecting to Birrell St.
All key routes should be protected and/or utilising quiet streets. Birrell to be separated.

HOW? Before Wed 24 June -
a) Complete online survey about what you value and want to see changed
b) Visit pop-up stalls at Oxford Street Mall near the train station entrance to share feedback:
Monday 15 June from 3pm - 4:30pm
Thursday 18 June 10:30am - 12pm
c) Come along to a community information workshop to explore the plan and ask questions:

Great news from We Ride Australia working in Canberra -

"Infrastructure and Transport Minister Catherine King is changing the game for walking and cycling and has ‘front-loaded’ the $500m program to maximise its impact in the first three years.

$90.2 million has been allocated for 2026-27,
$75.3 million has been allocated for 2027-28 and
$68.8 million the year after.
Individual state and territory allocations follow accepted COAG funding conventions with the larger states receiving larger shares of the funding."

Can't tell the difference between Option 1 and 2?
Waverley Council Have your say: Hall Street, O'Brien Street and Glenayr Avenue (Bondi Beach)

Both options have merit and needs a more direct connection to Cox Ave.
Option 2 has a better transition from Glenyre with a wider, broader plaza area.

Thank you Sarah at Bicycle NSW for speaking up - that removing the protected lanes could deter cyclists – particularly families and older riders who may feel unsafe on busy roads.

Council data shows bike usage on Moore Park Road has increased by 89 per cent since 2023, while Fitzroy Street has had a 74 per cent rise. On peak days more than 900 riders use each route.

While the council originally planned to remove the temporary lanes once the final stage of the delayed Oxford Street cycleway is completed, it now argues the Moore Park Road and Fitzroy Street routes serve distinct functions by connecting drivers to Surry Hills and Central Station, and that removal would “outweigh any benefits”.
