Attention all University, tafe and highschool students! Join the student strike for Palestine to stand against our government, universities and schools complicity in the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Israel has broken the ceasefire over 1,000 times since last October, yet our government and universities continue to defend, fund and arm Israel.
We won’t be silenced, and we won’t be cowed. Share this protest will all your classmates and friends to make sure students take a stand for justice.

❗️ANTI-RACIST SPEAKOUT: MIGRANTS ARE WELCOME, RACISTS ARE NOT❗️

📍 Wednesday 1pm, outside New Law building, Eastern Avenue 📍

——

The far-right, anti-immigrant rallies which took place across Australia yesterday came as a shock to many. Thousands of racists poured out onto the streets, demanding the deportation of immigrants and a return to ‘White Australia’.

In Sydney, the rally was co-organised by Bec Freedom, who stated on a radio show that ‘violence’ should be used to ‘protect white heritage’, and by an anti-immigrant social media influencer, Hugo Lennon, who’s part of one of the wealthiest property-developing firms in the country.

In both Melbourne and Sydney, Neo-Nazi organisations were in attendance. Notorious neo-Nazi Thomas Sewell spoke in Melbourne to cheers and applause.

These sorry excuses for human beings want people to blame refugees and migrants, among the most persecuted and marginalised groups in Australia, for the housing and cost of living crises, instead of the property developers and investors, like Hugo’s family, who are the real culprits.

They want to see an Australia in which migrants and people of colour feel scared to walk on the streets, and Trump-style deportation practices are implemented.

The Refugee Rights Office thinks students must take a stand against the vile racism and bigotry on display yesterday.

It has no place on our streets nor on our campus.

That’s why we are organising a snap speak out for THIS WEDNESDAY at 1pm out on Eastern Avenue in front of the New Law building.

See you there ✊🏼

PROTEST TRUMP: The National Day of Action is only ONE day away‼️

Under Trump’s administration, cruel and inhumane policies targeted refugees and asylum seekers—ripping families apart, enforcing travel bans based on religion, and drastically slashing refugee admissions to historic lows.

These actions have left thousands in limbo, denied safety and dignity. On the National Day of Action, students and activists across Australia will be demanding that our government cut ties with Trump’s America.

Join us THIS SATURDAY 24th of May at 1pm in Town Hall ✊

The Refugee Right’s Office was out at the rally today to commemorate the 2009 Mullivaikkal massacre.

Over 100,000 Tamil people were murdered in a declared ‘no-fire zone’ by Sri Lanka. At the time, the Australian government aided and abetted the genocide, just like they’re doing today with Gaza. Since, the Sri Lankan military has occupied Tamil Eelam.

Solidarity with Tamil people, the many victims of Sri Lanka’s campaign of genocide and ethnic cleansing, and the many more who’s loved ones were ‘disappeared’ by Sri Lankan authorities over 15 years ago.

Shame on the Australian government for its complicity in these crimes, and continued mistreatment and neglect of Tamil refugees.

It was a pleasure to hear speak at the artist floor talk “You’re Welcome?” hosted by last week.

Mustafa’s art powerfully depicts the dehumanisation at the heart of the Australian immigration system and his own story of being detained in the Nauru detention centre.

But it also expresses the perseverance and bravery of refugees like himself, who, despite all the suffering, strive to tell their story and assert their identity.

The Refugee Rights Office pledges solidarity will all those subject to Australia’s draconian immigration policies and demands permanent residence for all!
