On the occasion of His Majesty King Charles III’s Official Birthday, the Consulate General of Malta in Sydney extends its best wishes to His Majesty.

Each year, the King’s Birthday Honours List recognises Australians who have made outstanding contributions to their communities, professions and the nation. This year, 949 Australians were honoured for their service, achievement and dedication across a wide range of fields.

The Consulate General of Malta in Sydney congratulates all recipients of the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours and takes this opportunity to acknowledge the many Australians of Maltese heritage who have been recognised over the years, reflecting the significant and enduring contribution of the Maltese community across NSW and throughout Australia.

Fl-Okkażjoni tal-Jum Uffiċjali tat-Twelid ta’ Maestà Tiegħu r-Re Karlu III, il-Konsulat Ġenerali ta’ Malta ġewwa Sydney jesprimi l-isbaħ xewqat lil Maestà Tiegħu.

Kull sena, il-Lista tal-Unuri f’Jum it-Twelid tar-Re tagħti ġieħ lil Awstraljani li jkunu ddistingwew ruħhom permezz tas-servizz, il-kisbiet u d-dedikazzjoni tagħhom lejn il-komunità, il-professjoni u l-pajjiż. Din is-sena, 949 persuna ngħataw rikonoxximent għall-kontribut eċċezzjonali tagħhom f’firxa wiesgħa ta’ oqsma.

Nifirħu lir-riċevituri kollha tal-Unuri tal-2026 u nieħdu din l-opportunità biex insellmu lill-ħafna Awstraljani ta’ nisel Malti li matul is-snin ingħataw dan ir-rikonoxximent prestiġjuż, xhieda tal-kontribut importanti u dejjiemi li l-komunità Maltija tat u għadha tagħti fi NSW u madwar l-Awstralja.

The Consulate General of Malta in Sydney commends the Maltese Community Council of NSW for commemorating the 107th Anniversary of Sette Giugno 1919 and honouring those who sacrificed their lives in this pivotal moment of Malta’s history. We thank all those who contributed to this meaningful remembrance.

Today, Malta commemorates Sette Giugno, a pivotal moment in the nation’s history.

On 7 June 1919, public unrest driven by social and economic hardship culminated in events that claimed the lives of four Maltese citizens. The tragedy marked a turning point in Malta’s constitutional development and contributed to the country’s path towards self-government and parliamentary representation.

As we remember those who lost their lives, we reflect on the enduring values of democracy, representation, and civic participation, and on the importance of safeguarding these principles for future generations.

Illum, Malta tfakkar is-Sette Giugno, mument kruċjali fl-istorja tal-pajjiż.

Fis-7 ta’ Ġunju 1919, protesti marbuta ma’ diffikultajiet soċjali u ekonomiċi wasslu għal ġrajjiet traġiċi li fihom tilfu ħajjithom erba’ ċittadini Maltin. Dawn l-avvenimenti mmarkaw punt ta’ bidla importanti fl-iżvilupp kostituzzjonali ta’ Malta u kkontribwew għall-mixja tal-pajjiż lejn l-awtogvern u r-rappreżentanza parlamentari.

Filwaqt li niftakru f’dawk li tilfu ħajjithom, nirriflettu fuq il-valuri tad-demokrazija, ir-rappreżentanza u l-parteċipazzjoni ċivika, kif ukoll fuq l-importanza li dawn il-prinċipji jibqgħu mħarsa għall-ġenerazzjonijiet futuri.

The High Commission extends its congratulations to Hon. Dr Chris Fearne on his appointment as Malta’s Minister for Foreign and European Affairs following the formation of the new Government after the 2026 General Election.

The High Commission looks forward to working closely with Hon. Dr Fearne in further strengthening the longstanding and excellent relations between Malta and Australia, while advancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The High Commission also expresses its sincere appreciation to Hon. Dr Ian Borg for his support and leadership during his tenure as Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and looks forward to continuing its engagement with him in his new ministerial role.

The Republic of Malta has concluded its General Election, held on 30 May 2026, the 14th general election since Malta attained Independence in 1964.

Following the announcement of the official results, the Hon. Prime Minister Dr Robert Abela was sworn into office by H.E. the President of Malta, Myriam Spiteri Debono, and will continue to lead the Government for a new legislative term.

Produced by Lampa Stampa and Roughcut Films, the movie showcases the creativity and talent of Malta’s growing film industry, bringing Maltese storytelling to audiences across multiple international markets. The production was supported by Arts Council Malta.

Aidan will take the stage as the 10th performer of the evening during the Grand Final.

Australian audiences are eligible to vote for non-Australian entries during the live broadcast. Viewers may cast up to 10 votes, with each vote costing 0.70 AUD.
