This Festival of the Winds, Perfect Strangers is creating space for people from different backgrounds to come together, have meaningful conversations and build new connections. 💬

The idea is simple - you’ll be matched with someone you might never normally cross paths with and take part in guided conversations, with prompts to help get things flowing.

You might be strangers when you sit down, but could have much more in common than you think!

Happy National Wattle Day! 🪴

Today, we’re celebrating one of Australia’s most recognisable native plants and our national floral emblem.

With more than 1,000 species found across the country, wattles play an important role in supporting biodiversity and providing habitat for our local wildlife.

To mark the day, the Mayor planted two magnificent wattle trees in Waverley Park to celebrate Wattle Day and support the conservation of local native species throughout our community. 🌿

What happens on a building site can impact areas well beyond its boundaries. 🏗️

When rain hits a construction site, loose soil, sand and other materials can wash into stormwater drains and eventually make their way to our waterways and ocean.

That’s why our rangers continue to inspect local construction sites to make sure the right erosion and sediment controls are in place.

As part of the Get the Site Right initiative, we’ve been working with the construction industry for the past 10 years to help prevent sediment runoff and protect our coastal environment. 🌊

Building or renovating? Make sure your site is doing its part. If you notice a construction site that may not have the right controls in place, you can also report it to Council through our website.

A new chapter is taking shape at Bronte Beach! 🌊

Construction of the new Bronte Surf Life Saving Club is progressing well, with level one of the main building nearing completion and work now beginning on the roof deck. The seawall is also nearing completion, with new stairs and ramps installed.

For more than 120 years, the club has been at the heart of Bronte - supporting our lifesavers, lifeguards and the wider community.

We can’t wait to see the new club come to life! 💙

This , we’re looking back at this powerful moment in Waverley’s history and celebrating the many colours of courage - from standing up against discrimination to showing up for someone who needs an ally. 💜

Electric vehicles can be a practical option for a range of households and lifestyles! 💚

Amelia purchased her EV second-hand to help reduce her environmental impact and along the way, discovered another benefit - charging her vehicle has become an opportunity to slow down, spend time with her family and explore more of her local area.

🔗 Learn more about the local EV charging network and suggest future charging locations through the link below.
