CW: talk of SASH
Sexual harassment and assault (SASH) have long been an problem on Australian university campuses which has been largely swept under the rug.

One instance is too many but when such a shocking proportion of students are experiencing some form of sexual violence it is imperative that we take a stand against these disgusting and pervasive behaviors.

With such a notable amount of instances taking place in USU spaces it is way past time for the USU to stop standing idly by and take an active role in the fight against SASH.

With the USU investing $2.89 million in the AFIC - a company whose holdings compromise of BHP, Rio Tinto and Woodside Petroleum it's way past time for the USU to cut ties with environmentally damaging corporations. Also within the campus, the USU needs to step up its sustainability practices with wider implementation of recycling practices, composting and sustainable products.

With the NSS survey reporting 1/6 students experiencing sexual harassment and 1/20 experiencing sexual assault it's no secret that sexual violence is a rampant problem at Australian university campuses. With 1/4 instances of SASH occurring at C&S events it's way past for the USU to take action and stand up against the university's latent apathy towards this pertinent issue.
