On the first Wednesday of September each year, we mark Battle for Australia Day - a time for us to recognise all those who served in the defence of the Australian mainland and in sea, land and air battles across the Pacific region during World War II.
The immediate threat passed but not before thousands of Australians had given everything to make sure it did. When a generation was left without their loved ones who never made it home from New Guinea, Darwin, or the seas around us, Legacy was there for their families then and we still are today.
Earlier this year we widened our eligibility so even more veteran families can be welcomed in. Today, that means we support more than 25,000 partners and children of veterans across Australia, through financial support, case management and social connection. We're here for them and for whoever needs us next.
