🏅 Congratulations to Professor Julio Soria from University, recipient of the 2026 Barry Inglis Medal.
Professor Soria was recognised for helping researchers better understand and measure complex fluid flows. His pioneering work has transformed how researchers measure and understand complex fluid flows, helping to advance aerospace, energy and industrial technologies.
This is one of Australia’s top honours in measurement science. It recognises sustained work that has made a real difference to research, industry and the community.
On receiving the award, Professor Soria said:
“It's a privilege to receive the 2026 Barry Inglis Medal for Sustained Contribution to Australian Metrology. Measuring turbulent flows better is how we come to understand them — that's been the guiding idea of my career, and of the Laboratory for Turbulence Research in Aerospace and Combustion at Monash University, which I founded and am privileged to direct. This recognition belongs as much to the many talented students and colleagues who've shared that pursuit with me as it does to me. There's still much left to measure in turbulent flows.”
