What keeps bringing artists back to drawing?

In the latest ‘Look’ cover story, curator Scott Elliot () considers the intimacy and immediacy of drawing through the work of 11 artists in ‘Near at Hand: Dobell Australian Drawing Biennial 2026’.

From closely observed places and everyday details to memory and imagination, the artists use drawing to focus in on what is near at hand and often overlooked.
