📐From Pythagoras Triangulation to Construction: Maths in Action!🏗️
Recently our Year 10 Advance Mathematics students stepped outside the traditional classroom and onto the footy field to work alongside professional surveyors and explore how mathematics is used in the real world.
Through hands-on activities, students applied geometry, trigonometry, measurement, bearings and angles while using professional surveying equipment. They saw first-hand that Maths is much more than numbers on a page!
The experience also opened students’ eyes to exciting career opportunities in surveying, geospatial technology, construction, mapping, engineering and the broader STEM sector.
Finally, a special thank you to Mrs Shrestha who took time out of her regular day to supervise this event and most importantly, thank you to our parents and carers for supporting these opportunities and encouraging your children to explore the many pathways available to them beyond school!
It was a great example of learning beyond the classroom and discovering where Maths can take you!
