National Reconciliation Week is here, and it is a time for all of us at New Horizons to reflect, learn, and grow together.

Reconciliation isn't just about a single week on the calendar; it is about the everyday choices we make to listen, show respect, and walk alongside First Nations people.

Krystal Donovan, our First Nations Ambassador, shared a powerful reflection on what this time means:

"To me, reconciliation is grounded in education, collaboration, and unity. These are essential not only to reflect on our shared history, but to understand how we can move forward together and build a future that is inclusive and not divided."

We would love to hear from you. What does reconciliation mean to you, and how are you marking the week in your own community?

Everyone deserves a workplace where they can be themselves. The Q***r Career Expo is happening 12–13 June at Ashfield Civic Centre, and we're so excited to be involved!🏳️‍🌈

It's Australia's first large-scale LGBTQIA+ careers expo, with 60 inclusive employers across each day. Whether you're job hunting, thinking about a career change, or just want to connect with employers who genuinely walk the talk on inclusion, this one's for you.

We caught up with organiser Roxy Kitts to chat about why this event matters.

We loved having a very special visitor at headspace Ashfield this week! David Laffan, Assistant Secretary for Child, Youth and Priority Populations at the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, stopped by to hear from our team about what it's like delivering youth mental health services in the local community.

These conversations are so important, and it means a lot when the people making decisions want to hear directly from those on the ground.

Thank you David, headspace and Central and Eastern Sydney PHN for the visit! 🙏

Every year, thousands of young Australians experience a mental health crisis. What happens in the days and weeks after can make all the difference. i. am is NSW's first youth su***de aftercare program: designed by young people, delivered by people with lived experience, and built around hope.

Our core values are passion, integrity, and respect, and they sit at the heart of everything we do 💚
They guide our actions, shape our decisions, and define who we are as an organisation. As we move into the next chapter of our journey, we are committed to living these values authentically.
This means embedding them in the way we deliver services, support our people, and engage with communities.

Wednesday was a great day for our Packable crew. We saw three of our team members pick up the prestigious Chairman’s Award for their outstanding effort. It was a real treat to see everyone gathered to celebrate, mingle with the New Horizons Board, and enjoy some delicious food together.

Packable is truly at the heart of what we do here, and we couldn't be prouder of everything the team has achieved so far this year.

Well done to our winners and the whole Packable family for making today so special!

The future of mental health support in Australia is being shaped by people like Peter and Kalei; people with lived experience who are helping to make systems more compassionate, more inclusive, and more human.
With the Australian Government investing in the growth of the peer workforce under the National Mental Health and Su***de Prevention Agreement, peer workers are increasingly being recognised as essential to the future of mental health care. But for real change to happen, organisations need to genuinely invest in peer work, not just in theory, but in culture, training, and leadership.
At New Horizons, we’re committed to doing just that 💚
