We had an amazing turn out for the event including some adorable 4 legged guests 🐇

Emma Hurst had some inspiring words for us, including AJP's achievements and the work left ahead of us.

Dingoes are being shot, trapped, and poisoned in NSW national parks — and they have zero legal protection to stop it.

Dingoes are the only native animal in NSW not covered by the Biodiversity Conservation Act. That means they can be baited with 1080 poison, trapped, and killed — with no protections whatsoever. Experts have warned the current poisoning program could wipe them out entirely.

But right now, there's a real chance to change that.

The NSW Legislative Council's Animal Welfare Committee — chaired by AJP MP Emma Hurst — has launched a parliamentary inquiry into the management of dingoes in national parks. Submissions are open, and yours could be on the official parliamentary record.

You don't need to be an expert. You don't need to live in NSW. You just need to care.

We've put together a step-by-step submission guide with example openings, closings, and tips to help you write something in your own words — because personal submissions carry the most weight.

To all the animal advocates with their training wheels on, here is a workshop for you.

Did you know that behind secret padlocked gates and barbed wire fences in Western Sydney, baboons are being bred for research?

This week, A Current Affair featured Animal Justice MP Emma Hurst's exposé of a secret government facility that the public was never meant to see.

Through documents obtained from inside the compound, Emma uncovered the deaths of 24 baboons between 2021 and 2025.

Shakira. Klaus. Odette.

These animals were individuals whose lives began and ended inside a system built on cruel animal experimentation.

Every year, millions of animals are subjected to invasive and often painful experiments across NSW.

Primates, dogs, cats, rabbits, mice, guinea pigs and native animals are born into laboratories and die there, with no chance at freedom.

Animal experimentation is not only cruel but it is failing. Up to 96% of drugs that pass animal testing never make it through human clinical trials.

This is all happening while humane alternatives already exist, including computer modelling, stem cell research and in-vitro testing. The science is already there. The only thing missing is the political will to invest in it.

Emma has spent years fighting to expose this industry, securing world-first bans on forced swim and smoking experiments, leading a parliamentary inquiry into animal testing, and winning funding for humane alternatives.

Australia has a culling problem.

Right now, thousands of the brumbies of Mt Kosciuszko, the Eastern Grey Kangaroos around Canberra and dingos on farmland are being slaughtered.

Why? Because they are considered pests, invasive, feral or a threat to agricultural interests.

Yet, there are other solutions. We need to wean our government off their addiction to culling. We need to show the government that where they see a pest, we see our heritage, our culture, our identity and our right to decide what happens to them.

We accept the fact that you see us as numbers on a report, as a problem that needs to be solved. But we think you're mistaken to ask us to fit into the definitions you've already chosen for us.
You see us as you want to see us — in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions.

But what we found out is that each of us is.....an individual...a being...an icon...a survivor.
