Living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) means navigating change in everyday life, often in ways that are gradual, and at times more sudden.

Routines like moving, communicating, eating, or grooming can shift over time, and understandably, support needs change with them.

On MND Day, we recognise the importance of care that can respond as life changes, not just once, but throughout the journey.

At Forward, we have over 65 years of experience supporting people with spinal cord injury, which lends to our understanding of neurological disabilities like MND. We understand the realities of changing needs and the importance of recognising early signs.

What matters most is having support that can adjust with your needs, so care feels steady even when circumstances are not.

Kayley is our Consultant Psychologist and Clinical Services Manager. She works with people across the lifespan living with cognitive and physical disabilities, neurodivergence, and complex support needs.

For Kayley, care begins with listening. She is a proponent of the Biopsychosocial model of care and believes that it's important to 'connect before care'.
Her approach is simple but powerful: understanding the person behind the diagnosis. This has laid the foundation of the person-centred care delivered by the team at Forward.

Because the most meaningful care supports how people live their lives, not just their clinical outcomes.

Incontinence affects millions of Australians, yet many people continue to suffer in silence.

Continence needs and care are deeply personal, and the experience can be different for every individual.

As a result, continence challenges can affect far more than physical health. They can impact relationships, social activities, exercise, work, travel and eventually, even confidence.

That's why continence care isn't just about managing symptoms. It's about supporting the whole person.

This World Continence Week, we want to highlight the importance of managing continence beyond the physical symptoms. That’s why our biopsychosocial approach to care is so important. Our approach considers physical health alongside emotional wellbeing, personal goals and meets you where you are on your journey to independence.

Because when continence concerns are addressed holistically, people are better supported to live the life they choose.

We’re proud to share that Forward has been successfully recertified for ISO 9001 and ISO 45001.

At Forward, providing quality care means constant monitoring, learning and improvement to ensure those we support receive the highest standard of care possible, every single day.

ISO 9001 recognises strong quality management systems, while ISO 45001 focuses on health and safety for both the people receiving support and the people providing it.

These standards are important to us as they demonstrate our commitment not just to the people we care for, but also to those who provide this care.

A big thank you to our team for the care and commitment they bring to their work every day.

Because it means we can help make every day matter for our clients and community.

This Pride Month, we’re reminded that everyone’s life looks different, and that shapes what care should feel like.

For some, it’s about feeling safe and understood.
For others, it’s having support that respects the people and relationships around them.
Sometimes, it’s simply not having to explain who you are.

At Forward, we listen first. We take the time to understand what matters to you, so care can be shaped around your life, not the other way around.

Because care isn’t just about support.
It’s about how you feel receiving it.

Every day matters.

MS is not static. Support shouldn’t be either. 💛

On World MS Day, we want to shine a light on how multiple sclerosis can change over time. It's important that the support people receive adapts with it.

At Forward Ability Support, we work closely with people living with SCI and neurological disabilities like MS, cerebral palsy, and spina bifida. While each journey is different, there are often shared needs when it comes to mobility, continence care, daily living support, and independence.

We showed up for something bigger. Together. 💛

This year, our team took part in the Wings for Life World Run joining thousands around the world running, rolling or walking for a cause that sits at the heart of everything we do.

Team members, friends, families and partners came together at Randwick Racecourse, to support research into spinal cord injury and move closer to a cure. Joining our team was Sam Bloom, partner of our Live Well Together Program and Wings for Life global ambassador, along with her husband Cameron Bloom.

There was something powerful about being there together, it wasn’t about ability, it was about showing up for a cause.
100% of entry fees from this global event go towards research, helping drive progress and possibility for people living with spinal cord injury.

Proud to be part of this global movement!
