This morning I attended the Tradies Wanda One Club Carnival and joined celebrations for Wanda Surf Life Saving Club's 80th anniversary.

From nippers to masters, the carnival showcased the strong community spirit and volunteer commitment that make surf lifesaving such an important part of life in Sutherland Shire.

Thank you to the volunteers, officials and families who make events like this possible and help keep our beaches safe.

UPDATE: A first look at the future North Cronulla Surf Life Saving Club

We’re pleased to share a new 3D artist impression prepared by lead design consultant, Jasmax, giving the community a first look at the initial design concept for the future facility.

In addition to design concepts, Council has appointed Ford Civil to undertake demolition works for the redevelopment, marking another major step forward for the project.

Demolition is expected to begin in the coming weeks.

to the crash of Thomas Barkall's Airco DH.6 aircraft (G-AUBH) ✈️

The Airco DH.6 was a British military trainer biplane used by the Royal Flying Corps during the First World War. Known by various nicknames, including the "Clutching hand" and "Skyhook", many survived to be used as a civil light aircraft in the postwar era (Boughton 1963, p. 10.)

The plane crashed on take-off and hit a fence at the rear of the Cronulla Hotel. Barkall broke his toe and his passenger was uninjured.
