Today is Valentine’s Day…

And I thought, what a great day to teach kindness to our little people.πŸ₯°

Love comes in so many forms. The main thing it has it common is the kindness we extend to those we love.

Kindness is such a beautiful attribute. And! It often comes naturally to our little people.

Why not teach our little people a little more about being kind? Being kind to our loved ones, our friends and to ourselves.🀍

That last one can be the hardest one!!πŸ‘πŸ»

Tell me, how do you encourage kindness in your little one?πŸ‘‡πŸ»

Come and visit our stand at the Pregnancy Babies and Children Expo!

We are excited to talk with lots of parents about our services. We will be here all weekend!

Why is reading so important?

Well, reading is a brain strengthening activity. The ability to read and comprehend and process the words uses different parts of your brain. The stimulation of imagination and then memories is a full brain workout.πŸ’ͺ🏻

Reading also boosts communication skills and boosts intelligence. This is simply because as we read we are learning more and we are also learning more about ourselves. It triggers inner dialogue and questioning of values and tricky topics.

Reading to your little ones and modelling a passion for reading to your little ones has a huge impact on their development.πŸ“š

Tell me, what is you favourite children’s story from when you were a child.πŸ‘‡πŸ»

Ooh this is a deep one!

But the more and more I read it, the more it resonates.πŸ₯°

Our little people don’t need us telling them what they should think about the world around them, they rely on us to teach them how to think about things.

How can we do that?

By providing opportunities for them to explore their own interests and curiosities.☺️

Learning through wondering.

What does this look like? Well, maybe it’s about wondering out loud when trying to problem solve something so they can hear your thought process.

Or maybe it’s researching the answer to a question they have had together and sharing your own questions you want answered.

Or it could just be encouraging their own thought process.πŸ’

Our little people are learning all the time through all their experiences. They will make their own conclusions about things around them.

Let’s support them to keep asking questions, to keep exploring and learning and find wonder in each and every day.🫢🏻

What has been the best question your little one has asked you?πŸ‘‡πŸ»

Want to know how to best support your little ones numeracy skills?

Numeracy is considered the ability to recognise and apply maths concepts in all areas of life.
It includes understanding numbers, counting, solving number problems, measuring, estimating, sorting, noticing patterns, adding and subtracting numbers and more.

And here is the thing, it starts from birth!πŸ‘ΆπŸ»
Your baby is starting to learn numeracy skills through everyday interactions with you.
When your baby hears you counting their fingers and toes or singing songs or reading stories with numbers, they are learning to recognise numbers and shapes.

As your child gets older they will be further developing their skills by comparing things of different sizes, grouping things together, learning about money and the cost of things and even dividing and sharing food.

You can help to support your child’s learning through games and toys that include numbers, shapes and patterns as well as including them in daily tasks like shopping!πŸ‘πŸ»

The best thing about learning new skills is children pick these up naturally through play and the more relaxed and playful the experience, the more they will learn!!πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ»

Do you want to learn more?

Head to our website and sign up to our mailing list! We will have a monthly newsletter with more tips and tricks and special offers!! https://belowthewillowtree.com.au

Tell me! What everyday activity do you include your little one in to help build their numeracy skills?πŸ‘‡πŸ»
