Today jerseys have taken centre stage at Royal North Shore Hospital as staff came together to celebrate Jersey Day.

From clinical and support services to administration and operational teams, staff are proudly their favourite team colours, creating a vibrant atmosphere across the hospital.

Jersey Day is an annual awareness and fundraising event that supports organ and tissue donation, honours donors and their families, and celebrates the life-changing impact of donation.

A highlight of the day was the annual Giant Jersey Display, with staff gathering in a show of unity and community spirit. The ICU team kept the celebrations going with a barbecue fundraiser, bringing colleagues together for an important cause.

The day was a great reminder of the generosity, teamwork and community spirit that exists across RNSH. đź‘•

A successful day celebrating Speech Pathology!

Our team had a fantastic time meeting staff, patients and visitors at our recent information stall. The event provided a valuable opportunity to raise awareness of the wide range of services speech pathologists provide and the important role communication plays in health, wellbeing and participation.

Our refreshed Parents' Room in the Royal North Shore Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit has officially opened, providing a welcoming retreat for parents during their baby's hospital stay.

Thanks to the generous donations of two families whose babies received care in our NICU, the upgraded space now features a comfortable new couch, tables, bookshelves, and a private workspace, allowing parents to attend work meetings without having to leave their little ones.

A beautiful new wall decal completes the room, creating a calm and peaceful environment where parents can take a moment to catch their breath and recharge.

We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of these families, whose gift will support countless parents and carers for years to come. đź’™

For the past two years, retired nurse Cathy Kinsella has been volunteering at Royal North Shore Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, helping provide comfort and connection for some of our tiniest patients and their families.

In partnership with the , volunteers like Cathy spend time reading, singing and soothing babies when families can't be at the bedside, always under the guidance of our nursing team.

It's the small moments that make a big difference.

This week we opened a brand new food and beverage precinct for our staff, patients, families and visitors to enjoy every day.

More than great food, the new space has been purpose built, including quiet spaces where our community can come together through some of life's biggest moments - offering a place to pause, connect, celebrate, find comfort, and catch your breath.

❤️QUICK-THINKING DOCTOR HELPS SAVE TEENAGE FOOTBALLER❤️

Royal North Shore Hospital emergency medicine specialist Dr Davina Julliard was watching her own child play football when she was alerted that a 15-year-old player had collapsed on a nearby field.

Davina rushed to help, joining an off-duty paramedic and other bystanders who had already started CPR and prepared an AED.

Together, they continued CPR and delivered several shocks before NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived.

The player, Ivy Thrussell, was later diagnosed with Wolff–Parkinson–White syndrome and is now recovering, with a full recovery expected.

Davina said the incident highlighted just how important access to an AED can be.

“Having access to an AED is absolutely critical to surviving, and surviving with a meaningful outcome as well,” she said.

Everyone deserves healthcare that feels safe, welcoming and respectful.

On 25 July, the NSLHD & Rainbow Screening Clinic is providing free breast/chest screening for LGBTIQ+ people with breast/chest tissue in a supportive, gender-affirming environment.

A mammogram can detect cancer long before symptoms appear, sometimes when it's as small as a grain of rice. Yet 1 in 4 eligible LGBTIQ+ people have never had a mammogram.

Taking time for screening is an act of self-care. Early detection saves lives.
