Last night we explored a fascinating and little-known chapter of history with the presentation of Captivity and Creativity: The Cultural and Material Production of Italian Prisoners in Allied Hands (1940–1947).

Editors Giorgia Alù (University of Sydney) and Elena Bellina (New York University), joined by contributors Flavia Marcello (Swinburne University of Technology and University of Sydney) and Anthony White (University of Melbourne), shared insights from this groundbreaking Australian Research Council-funded research project.

Professor Adrian Vickers (University of Sydney) joined the conversation as respondent, with the evening also featuring DARCI – Digital Atlas of Creative Captivity, an innovative platform documenting the creative work of Italian detainees during WWII.

An engaging evening bringing together research, art, history and digital innovation. Thank you to everyone who joined us.
