The late Cr Pat Dixon was first elected to Armidale City Council in 1983 and is remembered as a trailblazer for Aboriginal women in local government who worked tirelessly for the community she represented.

In recognition of her service and achievements in local government, the Cr Pat Dixon Memorial Scholarship was established for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander councillors and council staff members in NSW to undertake further study, professional development or research.

We spoke to the 2023 Pat Dixon Memorial Scholarship recipient, Cr Yvonne Weldon, about the application process and what it meant to receive the scholarship.

Mob, the count for the Upper House can take up to 4 weeks to be finalised.

The good news is we have increased our state-wide vote so I am in with a solid chance.

The extra good news is we have retained our seats with Jenny Leong Newtown, Tamara Smith, MP Ballina and very likely Kobi Shetty - Greens candidate for Balmain! We have also added to the Upper House team Dr Amanda Cohn - Greens and Cate Faehrmann joining Sue Higginson and Abigail Boyd πŸŽ‰

Thank you to everyone for supporting our election campaign. I have enjoyed being apart of a strong team here with the The Greens NSW as well as my own crew behind the scenes. What a journey!

For now, rest up and rejoin the world after such a tough yet rewarding state-wide effort. Hopefully we are on the path to seeing a Greens, First Nations voice inside NSW parliament ✊🏾

What a privilege. An amazing night. So honoured to be chosen by the Wyong electorate by such a large margin.

I will serve with humility and enthusiasm.

A big thanks to my family who are my rock.
