What stood out most at this year’s HETI Higher Education graduation wasn’t just the achievement, it was what our graduates are already bringing into the mental health workforce.
They come from across the lifespan of care - perinatal and infant, child and youth, adult and older persons - each with a different pathway in, but a shared purpose: to better support people, families and communities.
Some are building new services.
Some are deepening their expertise in areas where it’s needed most.
All are already applying what they learn in real time.
“I chose to study mental health because I wanted to support families in the perinatal and infant space,” Kelly shared.
“I was given the opportunity of pioneering a new service and decided to build my knowledge and skills through a Masters,” said Pramila.
As Dr Susan Grimes put it, this impact starts well before graduation:
“Our completing students bring improved mental healthcare, not just when they graduate, but throughout their study time.”
What they leave with isn’t just a qualification, it’s contemporary, evidence-based practice and a strong, whole-person, recovery approach that will shape care across NSW.
Congratulations to this year’s graduates. The difference you’re making is already being felt.
