๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’ป Staying Safe On and Offline

This week, our Stage 3 students participated in an engaging seminar presented by our local Police Liaison Officers, focusing on personal safety, wellbeing and responsible online behaviour.

Students explored practical strategies for staying safe online, including:
๐Ÿ”น Keeping personal information private
๐Ÿ”น Using strong passwords
๐Ÿ”น Thinking carefully before posting or sharing online
๐Ÿ”น Being respectful and kind in digital spaces
๐Ÿ”น Speaking to a trusted adult if something online makes them feel uncomfortable or unsafe

The session provided valuable learning opportunities and reinforced the importance of making safe and responsible choices both in the classroom and beyond.

A big thank you to our Police Liaison Officers for sharing their knowledge and helping our students become safe, confident and responsible digital citizens. ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ‰๐ŸŒŸ Congratulations Ivy! ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ‰

This week, Ivy from 6T proudly represented our school as a member of the Sydney East Schools Sports Association Girls Rugby League Team at the NSW Primary School Sports Association Championships held at Cronulla.

This event marked a truly historic moment for school sport in New South Wales, with the championships being the first-ever Girls Rugby League Championships. More than 200 girls from across the state came together to compete, celebrate the growth of the game and be part of a significant milestone in the history of girlsโ€™ sport.

Over three days of competition, Ivy and her Sydney East teammates demonstrated tremendous skill, determination and teamwork. The team progressed through to the semi-finals before narrowly missing out in the playoff rounds, finishing an outstanding 4th overall.

To not only represent Sydney East but also be part of the inaugural championship is an achievement Ivy will always be able to look back on with pride. She has helped pave the way for future generations of girls in rugby league and has represented our school community with distinction.

Congratulations, Ivy, on your incredible achievement. We are extremely proud of you and the way you embraced this historic opportunity! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ’™

We are proud to recognise the outstanding achievements of students who have represented our school in representative sport throughout Terms 1 & 2.
Selection to representative sport pathways is a significant accomplishment. Students are required to demonstrate their skills, sportsmanship and resilience against talented athletes from schools across our local area, Sydney and beyond. As students progress through the pathway, they trial alongside and compete against students they may have never met before, while working with teachers and selectors from other schools.
Students have proudly represented our school in the following sports:
๐Ÿ‰ AFL โ€“ Ivy, Jaxson and Isaac
๐Ÿ€ Basketball โ€“ Jaxson and Aleksandar
๐Ÿ Cricket โ€“ Shah-Mir
โ›ณ Golf โ€“ William
๐Ÿ Netball โ€“ Victoria, Emily and Marcus
๐Ÿ‰ Rugby League โ€“ Ivy and Jaxson
๐Ÿ‰ Rugby Union โ€“ Ivy and Jaxson
โšฝ Soccer โ€“ James, Nicolas, Noah and Marvelyn
๐ŸŽพ Tennis โ€“Elisabetta, Ghoomneel and Pharrell
๐Ÿƒ Touch Football โ€“ Sebastian, Kobe and Ayva
The representative pathway progresses from School to Botany Bay Zone, Combined Trials (where applicable) and then to Sydney East level.
A special congratulations to the three students who have already been selected to represent Sydney East this year, Ivy - Girls Rugby League, Jaxson - Rugby Union and William - Golf. This is a remarkable achievement and reflects their talent, dedication and commitment to their chosen sport.
We congratulate every student who has participated in representative trials and thank the families who support these opportunities. As trials continue throughout the year, we look forward to sharing further successes with our school community.

๐Ÿ”โž• Stage 2 Takes on the Maths Escape Room! โž•

Stage 2 students recently participated in an exciting Maths Escape Room Incursion, combining teamwork, problem-solving and mathematical thinking in a fun, hands-on challenge.

Working in teams, students solved clues, cracked codes, unlocked boxes and completed a range of maths puzzles as they raced against the clock to escape. Along the way, they applied skills across number, fractions, measurement, geometry, data and more.

The day was filled with collaboration, persistence and plenty of excitement. Most importantly, students discovered that maths can be both challenging and fun!

Well done, Stage 2, on your fantastic teamwork and problem-solving skills. ๐Ÿ‘

Our School Spelling Bee Finals provided an exciting and memorable opportunity for students to demonstrate their spelling knowledge, confidence and determination.
Following class-based competitions, the top two finalists from each class progressed to their respective Stage Finals. Students were challenged to spell increasingly difficult words aloud in front of an audience of peers and parents, which was an achievement in itself. Their composure, concentration and courage throughout the competition were truly impressive.

Congratulations to:

* Stage 3 Winner โ€“ Sebastian 5D
* Stage 2 Winner โ€“ Umer 4P

For those interested, the winning words were ANTISEPTIC for Stage 3 and EXPERIENCE for Stage 2โ€”no easy feat!

๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’›โค๏ธ This past week, our school community recognised National Sorry Day and National Reconciliation Week โ€” an important time to reflect, learn and grow together.
Throughout the week, students engaged in meaningful learning experiences to deepen their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and perspectives. We reflected on the importance of acknowledging the past, building respectful relationships and working together towards reconciliation.
As a school community, we are committed to fostering understanding, respect and inclusion, while continuing to learn about the rich histories and cultures of Australiaโ€™s First Nations Peoples.
