Road Safety is something we need to be aware of at all times whether you are driving your private vehicle or driving a vehicle for work. Choosing to think with a low risk mindset is the key to driving in a low risk manner.

Stay safe on our roads this Queen's Birthday long weekend and be aware of the signs of fatigue. Fatigue will affect your critical decision making when driving. Driving when fatigued reduces your concentration and reaction times in the same way as drunk driving.

Self Management tips to prevent fatigue when driving:

- Get a good night's sleep before a long drive
- Plan your drive to include regular rest breaks - up to 20 minutes every 2 hours
- Keep hydrated!
- Share the driving if possible
- Learn to recognise the signs of fatigue: drowsiness, discomfort, yawning, sore or irritated eyes

Remember, fatigue can also occur on short trips.

Stay alert, aware, and choose to act on the signs on fatigue.

Happy Long Weekend from everyone at National Driver Education! Our office will be closed from 1pm Friday 8th (urgent emails to [email protected]) and will reopen Tuesday morning.

Hello Safer Drivers!

Be careful on our roads this long weekend and remember that Double Demerits are in force from today Thursday 29th March to Monday 2nd April inclusive.

Double Demerits will be in place for speeding, not wearing your seatbelt or motorcycle helmet, and using your mobile phone illegally.

From all of us here at National Driver Education, we wish you a Happy Easter and long weekend.

24/01/2018

We remind you all that Double Demerits apply over the Australia Day long weekend, finishing at midnight Sunday.
Avoid distractions while driving, such as eating, using the phone, changing your music; manage driver fatigue; and never drink and drive. Stay focused on the task of driving safely

20/12/2017

We remind motorists that double demerits apply for eleven days in NSW from Friday the 22nd of December 2017 till Monday the 1st January 2018 inclusive.
As of 2016 the standard penalty for mobile phone offences rose to four demerit points. Since the end of last year, mobile phone offences have been included in double demerit periods. This means those caught talking or texting illegally while driving during the Christmas/ New Year holiday period will incur eight demerit points.
Please drive safely and take extra care on the roads.
