Our Upper House committee investigating the state of live music across the state held its first public hearing in Sydney earlier this week.
Through this inquiry our committee is considering how best to support the long-term sustainability of the live music sector. It is also investigating progress made since the 2017 parliamentary inquiry into the music and arts economy, the implementation of the NSW Contemporary Music Strategy, and the impact of the Vibrancy Reforms.
During this week's hearing, the committee heard from Sound NSW, 24-Hour Economy NSW, Create NSW, Destination NSW, Venues NSW, NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, Liquor and Gaming NSW, NSW Police, NSW Health, MEAA, OXFORD ART FACTORY, Australian Music Venue Foundation, Australian Hotels Association NSW, Clubs NSW, Local Government NSW, City of Sydney, Burwood Council, Lane Cove Council and Australian Festival Association.
