It was an honour to meet with MP Sethrida Geagea yesterday at the Lebanese Forces HQ to formally thank her for her continued efforts and further discuss our Wadi Qannoubine Road Project.

We appreciate the opportunity to emphasise that this project constitutes a historical demand for the people of our village, why the road is important in facilitating access to our land and property, and preserving our UNESCO World Heritage listed village, which has spiritual, historical, environmental and humanitarian value.

We ask for your continued prayers and support while our committee members work actively on this initiative.

It is with sincere regret that we inform you of the passing of Anthony Simon Kady, who sadly passed away on Friday, 7 August 2026.

Condolences will be accepted on Monday, 10 August, between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm at Harris Park Church Hall.

The funeral service will be held at 10:15 am on Tuesday, 11 August, at Harris Park Church.

Anthony (Tony) will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a true gentleman, a loving father, and a generous and kind-hearted person.

Tony was deeply involved with the Wadi Qannoubine Association for many years and will always be remembered for his generosity, warm personality, and the positive impact he had on those around him.

Our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

May God bless him, have mercy on his soul, and grant him eternal rest.

May he rest in peace.

يتقدّم رئيس جمعية وادي قنوبين في سيدني – أستراليا، السيد إلياس يوسف ملحم، بجزيل الشكر والتقدير إلى سعادة النائب ستريدا جعجع وسعادة النائب السابق جوزيف إسحاق على دعمهما الكبير والجهود الحثيثة التي بذلاها من أجل الحصول على موافقة معالي وزير الأشغال العامة والنقل، السيد فايز رسامني، على تنفيذ مشروع ترميم طريق وادي قنوبين وصولًا إلى دير سيدة قنوبين.

كما تتوجّه الجمعية بخالص الشكر والامتنان إلى غبطة أبينا البطريرك الكاردينال مار بشارة بطرس الراعي، على مباركته لهذا المشروع، لما فيه خير ومصلحة أبناء وادي قنوبين المقيمين في لبنان والمنتشرين في مختلف بلدان الاغتراب.

كما تتوجّه الجمعية بالشكر الجزيل لنائب البطريركي على
منطقتي الجبّة وإهدن سيادة المطران جوزيف نفاع و راعي الابرشية المارونية في اوستراليا سيادة المطران انطوان شربل طربيه على دعمهما الكبير و وقوفهم الدائم والمستمر إلى جانبها وجميع أبناء وادي قنوبين.

ويتقدّم أعضاء جمعية وادي قنوبين أيضًا بجزيل الشكر إلى رئيس الجمعية، السيد إلياس يوسف ملحم، تقديرًا لما بذله على مدى السنوات الماضية من جهود استثنائية، وما عقده من اجتماعات واتصالات متواصلة، سواء خلال وجوده في لبنان أو في أستراليا، لمتابعة هذا المشروع خطوة بخطوة حتى أصبح حقيقة.

إن الحلم الذي راود أبناء وادي قنوبين وأهاليه لسنوات طويلة بدأ اليوم يتحقق، على أمل أن يُستكمل إنجاز المشروع في المستقبل القريب، بما يحفظ هذا الوادي التاريخي ويخدم أبناءه وزواره.

تُعدّ هذه الخطوة الأولى التي سيتبعها المشروع الثاني، والمتمثل في ترميم وصيانة الطرقات المؤدية إلى جميع المنازل في بلدتنا الحبيبة.

Today, we celebrate a significant milestone for the people of Wadi Qannoubine as we have officially been granted approval and funding for the first phase of the Qannoubine Road project.

Our sincere gratitude goes to His Beatitude Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros al-Rahi for his unwavering support and commitment to preserving and strengthening our cherished village.

We also extend our appreciation to His Excellency Bishop Antoine-Charbel Tarabay, MP Sethrida Geagea and former MP Joseph Isaac for supporting this important initiative that will improve access to one of Lebanon's most treasured valleys.

A special thank you to Mr Elias Youssef Melhem, President of the Wadi Qannoubine Association in Australia and its members, for their constant dedication and persistent lobbying for this cause.

We also acknowledge and thank all those who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed.

This road project is more than infrastructure, it is an investment in the future of Wadi Qannoubine, preserving its heritage, strengthening its community, and ensuring that generations to come can continue to experience the beauty and spiritual significance of this sacred valley.
