I escaped a violent relationship of coercive control, daily low-level violence, sexual assault with a weapon, constant surveillance, and threats. So many threats.
She said that if I left her, she said she would have gangs kill me, or have her family kill me, or make false allegations to the police about me.
Fortunately, I had proof of everything - text messages, videos, photos, emails, etc. So, when I finally got the bravery to leave, I thought I'd be able to rely on the Police to protect me.
They didn't.
Police were worse than useless. Police became her tool of abuse in attacking me further.
The police were corrupt, and so full of gender bias.
They refused to even receive all the evidence I had. They refused to talk to any witnesses. In one case, an officer actually destroyed

evidence - a CCTV tape of my partner assaulting me.
All the corrupts cops did was interviewed my abusive Ex to "give her the opportunity to deny the allegations", which she did, of course. She then made counter allegations.
Police then spent over a year persecuting me - investigating me in relation to the ridiculous allegations she made. It took 5 months before the police were ready to talk to me, to allow me to deny her allegations. I was interrogated for 7 hours. I fully cooperated, and answered all their questions.
It was only after all of that, that they allowed me to give them the hard evidence that proved she'd been lying and I'd been telling the truth.
Eventually she was charged and plead guilty. It took over a year to get the police to do their job.
The main delay - the crooked cops derailed the investigation.
The Police broke lot of their own policies, procedures and laws:
- In cases of 'crossing allegations' police policy says police should investigate both sets of allegations
- The breach numerous procedures in the way they dealt with me
- Most fundamentally, the decision to not investigate my allegations, but to take very seriously the allegations of my abusive Ex was heavily influenced by gender bias. This is a direct breach of the Anti-Discrimination Act.
