Fancy learning to Foxtrot? Charleston? Tango? 💃🏼Remember the Bump? Twist? Jive?🕺🏿

Come and help Tabulam Hall celebrate 100 years.
Come to the hall on April 13 to dance and reminisce on one of the only means of meeting your spouse and having fun back in the ‘good old days’.
Come dressed as your favourite decade.
(Will we be seeing a glut of hippies? 😜😁🤣)
We will be playing music and teaching dances from the 1920’s through to today.
(Not sure about break dancing, unless a youngster wants to give a demo.😬🤔)

Tickets are available from CK Corner in Tabulam.
Adults $10, Kids $5, Family $30

Hall opens at 6pm
BYO drinks

Tickets includes:
Music, videos and dance instructions.
Nibbles and desserts.
Bbq meal will be available for purchase.
Tables will seat 6-8.

I had it back to front and should read:

Meetings are held at the hall to discuss relevant matters on the first Saturday of every month at 9am. Odd months (Jan, March, May, etc) are for anyone wishing to attend, even months (Feb, April, June, etc) are for committee members only.

Tabulam Public Hall, located in Barnes St, is a 100 year old wooden building. It has beautiful polished wooden floors, a raised stage, a commercial kitchen and is available for hire. There are tables and seating for up to 100 people in the main hall and a separate meeting room for smaller groups. A PA system, projector and screen are also available for hire. The hall is perfect for social meetings, training sessions and group activities. Private function hire, subject to approval by the committee, is also available. Fees and terms available on request.

The hall currently has regular weekly hires in place:
*A social/craft group run as a community incentive by the hall meets every Thursday morning from 10-12, all welcome. Bring your latest craft project or just come for a chat and enjoy a game of bingo or tri-domino’s. $5 will get you morning tea and good company.
*Tuesday evening is line dancing with Kaye from 6-7pm. $5, beginners welcome.
*Massages Wednesday’s and every 2nd Saturday. Contact Deb on 6666 1418 to make a booking.
*Tabulam Bible Fellowship meets every Sunday from 9.30am

The hall is managed by a small, but dedicated group of local volunteers. Some are ‘official’ committee members appointed by the Department of Crown Lands, who own the hall, and some are FoTHs (friends of the hall) who give their time and energy to help maintain the hall. Meetings are held at the hall to discuss relevant matters on the first Saturday of every month at 9am. Odd months (Jan, March, May, etc) are for committee members only, even months (Feb, April, June, etc) are for anyone wishing to attend.

Remember! This is your hall. It is an asset for your community and has been an important part of Tabulam social and working history for 100 years. It needs members of the community willing to help. No one is asked to give too much. Small contributions by multiple people make life easier for everyone.

During the latest fires at the end of October there were several complaints on local community pages regarding the lack of assistance to be found at Tabulam hall.

The hall committee would like to clarify the hall’s position as the designated Tabulam evacuation centre.

The local Resilience Officer received a call from Kyogle Council’s Community Recovery Officer, Peter Kelly, and was instructed to open the hall. This call came in about 3pm that day and she opened the hall and offered water, tea and coffee, donated by another community member, to anyone who attended.
Surprisingly this is not her job! The supply and distribution of consumables and first aid is the responsibility of the Red Cross and the Department of Communities and Justice. Their representatives arrived at around 6pm. A police officer from Woodenbong and someone from the SES also attended.
At about 8-8.30 the policeman and reps from RC and C&J were told to stand down and she was told to lock up the hall.
During the night the resilience officer, of her own volition, walked around the town and offered bottled water and kind words to several people she found sleeping in their cars.
Basically neither the hall or the hall committee has any say in the running of the hall as an evacuation centre. The hall has no provisions for overnight stays. No bedding, no showers.
Ridiculous? Absolutely.
The hall committee has been in discussions with Kyogle Council for a few years about upgrading the hall for disaster relief. To that end the hall committee has spent money from it’s own funds and grants obtained to install a commercial kitchen and other facilities.
However the onus is not on us. We are doing the best we can under instruction from Kyogle Council.
We are endeavouring to arrange a meeting with representatives from council and the other agencies to discuss these issues in the near future.

The Tabulam Public Hall Reserve Land Manager manages the Reserve No. 54399 at Tabulam notified on 28-Jan-1921 for Public Hall. The term of appointment will be for a period not exceeding 5 years.
