🚨 Incident Response Update 🚨

In the early hours of this morning, the SES Tallangatta Unit was tasked to assist SES Beechworth Unit and SES Wodonga Unit at a road rescue incident near Yackandandah.

A crew of six members responded promptly and were en route to provide support when they were stood down prior to arrival. Thankfully, additional assistance was no longer required.

Our volunteers are ready to respond whenever and wherever they are needed, day or night, helping to support communities across the region.

A big thank you to all the members of our community who guessed what our recent training session was focused on β€” you were correct… it was Domestic Rescue training! πŸ‘

Did you know that VICSES provides Domestic Rescue services across Victoria?

Domestic Rescue involves assisting people in situations around the home where specialized rescue skills and equipment are needed. While these incidents may seem minor, they can be painful, distressing, and sometimes quite serious.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’ Our members regularly train to assist with situations such as:
πŸ’ Removing rings stuck on fingers
πŸ› Fingers trapped in plug holes or household items
🚧 Arms and legs stuck in fences and gates
🩹 Safely removing impaled objects from body parts

These skills are just another important tool in our toolkit, helping us support and assist our community when they need us most. πŸ’™

And before anyone asks… yes, those were sausages used during training! πŸŒπŸ˜‚ Sometimes the best way to learn is with a little creativity and a sense of humour.

Our volunteers are always training, always learning, and always ready to help.

This week, members of the SES Tallangatta Unit, SES Chiltern Unit and SES Rutherglen Unit completed their First Aid Training, ensuring our operational volunteers are ready to assist when it matters most. πŸš‘πŸ©Ή

At some rescue scenes, our crews maybe required to provide immediate first aid care until Ambulance Victoria arrives. That’s why it’s so important that all operational members are trained and prepared to support our community during emergencies.

A big thank you to Megan for delivering the training and helping our members maintain these vital lifesaving skills. πŸ‘πŸ’™πŸ§‘
