Over the last weekend members from Tamborine Mountain Rural Fire Brigade along with members from Tamborine Rural Fire Brigade conducted a hazard reduction burn for landowners in the local area.

This burn helped mitigate the risk and intensity of a bushfire and the potential impacts on the community. This burn was done with close monitoring with the weather and local moisture readings to promote ecological health, biodiversity and conservation of species and habitats.

Thank you to our members who gave up their weekend to assist.

🔥 HAZARD REDUCTION BURN 🔥

This Saturday, 8th August, our brigade will be assisting a land holder to conduct a permitted hazard reduction burn (weather permitting).

Location: Rainer Drive/Magnetic Drive, Tamborine Mountain
Time: 10:00am until approximately 5:00pm

This planned burn is being conducted to mitigate the risk and intensity of bushfires and their potential impacts on the neighbourhood. It will also promote ecological health, biodiversity and the conservation of species and habitats.

During the burn and in the days following, you may notice smoke in the area. To help reduce the effects of smoke, you may wish to:
- Keep all doors and windows closed where practical.
- Set air conditioners to recirculate indoor air if possible.
- Limit strenuous outdoor activity while smoke is present.
- Keep any prescribed medications, such as asthma relievers or other respiratory medications, readily available and follow your healthcare provider’s advice.

If there is an emergency, call 000 immediately.

We appreciate your understanding while this important bushfire reduction work is carried out in this high risk area.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Australia’s new national warning system, AusAlert, is being tested across Australia today as part of the AusAlert national test.

⏰ Set a reminder for 5 minutes before the test time in your location so you are prepared in case you receive it.

The national test will be sent to all compatible mobile devices in Australia, which includes most mobile phones, some smart watches and some tablets. Apple iPads don’t receive AusAlerts.

See the test time in your location below:
🟢 Australian Capital Territory – 2pm AEST
🟡 New South Wales – 2pm AEST
🟢 Queensland – 2pm AEST
🟡 Tasmania – 2pm AEST
🟢 Victoria – 2pm AEST
🟡 Northern Territory – 1.30pm ACST
🟢 South Australia (including Broken Hill, NSW) – 1.30pm ACST
🟡 Western Australia – 12pm AWST
🟢 Christmas Island – 11am CXT.

📱 The test will be a Critical Alert. Your device will vibrate and play a loud siren-like sound for around 10 seconds before stopping, even if it is on ‘silent’ or 'do not disturb'. The message will clearly identify itself as a test and no action is required. If you don’t receive the AusAlert national test, this is fine too, as it’s just a test.
