HPV Team in Training

Our Human Powered Vehicle (HPV) students have been hard at work training in preparation for their first event of the year, an 8-hour sprint, on July 25 at the Gladstone Kart Club 💪

Students have been putting in great effort using the school’s current vehicles while eagerly awaiting the arrival of a brand-new HPV. This exciting addition has been made possible thanks to the incredible generosity of our school P&C 👏

The team is full of enthusiasm and can’t wait to hit the track and represent our school in the competitions this year.

We’re passionate about preparing our students for life beyond the classroom 👏

That’s why we were pleased to partner with RACQ and take part in the RACQ Docudrama Program, helping our students deepen their understanding of road safety.

Through a powerful filmed mock car crash scenario, students explored the real impact of choices and consequences. This experience sparked meaningful conversations and encouraged reflection on how their decisions can affect not only themselves, but also others around them.

Throughout the program, Year 12 students learnt about the Fatal Five – not wearing a seatbelt, speeding, fatigue, distraction, and drink/drug driving – and discussed practical strategies to prevent risks and respond safely in real-life situations.

By building awareness and responsibility, our students are better equipped to keep themselves and their loved ones safe on the road 🚗💛
