Last night our members completed their Fit for Role assessments, ensuring they remain ready to respond when our community needs us most.

Being operationally ready is about more than just attending jobs. It means maintaining the skills, fitness and capability required to safely carry out our roles during storms, floods, searches and other emergency operations.

A great turnout from our volunteers, who put in the effort to complete the assessment and continue their commitment to serving the community.

What are we expecting?

The Bureau of Meteorology advises rainfall has eased and no further significant rainfall is expected over the next few days. Flooding is no longer expected along the Manning River.

Based on predictions from the Bureau of Meteorology, the following areas may be impacted by floodwaters:

- Low lying areas adjacent to the river
- Low lying roads, bridges and causeways

With forecast weather on the way, community self-service sandbag points have been established across our region to help residents prepare and protect their homes and properties.

• Manning Point

🛠 Please remember:
✔️ Bring your own shovel
✔️ Only fill bags around 2/3 full
✔️ Lay sandbags like brickwork for best protection
✔️ Prepare now before conditions worsen

Sandbags can help reduce water entering your home, but they are only one part of your flood preparation. Stay informed, monitor conditions, and have an emergency plan ready.

Another productive SES training night for our members tonight!

With potential weather activity forecast over the coming days, some members spent the evening preparing and ensuring we are ready to respond if our community needs us. Preparation and readiness are a big part of what we do behind the scenes.

Other members were busy completing their Field Core Skills assessments, putting their training into practice across a range of practical activities. This included demonstrating knots and lashings, using fire extinguishers, and learning techniques to stabilise compromised or falling structures using Acrow props.

A great effort from everyone involved tonight. Training nights are all about building skills, maintaining readiness, and ensuring our volunteers have the confidence and capability to respond when it matters most. Well done team! 👏💛💙🧡

The Bureau of Meteorology advises a broad trough over northern and eastern NSW is expected to generate widespread moderate rainfall and thunderstorms over the next few days. A low within the trough is expected to result in heavy rainfall for parts of the Hunter and southern parts of the Mid North Coast from late Thursday.

Minor flooding may develop from overnight Thursday into Friday along the Manning and Gloucester. Uncertainty remains in the location of the heaviest falls, and the Flood Watch area will be revised over the coming days.

Catchments in the flood watch area are moderately wet.

Based on predictions from the Bureau of Meteorology, the following areas may be impacted by dangerous floodwaters:

🌨️Daily totals of 20-40mm are likely from slow-moving rain, with localised falls up to 70-80mm possible in some areas.

⛈️Thunderstorms possible through to the weekend.

Residents in low-lying or flood-prone areas should keep an eye on conditions and monitor updates from the Bureau of Meteorology https://www.bom.gov.au and emergency services.

Tonight our unit proudly celebrated Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW Day)! 🧡

Tonight we came together in a sea of orange to show our appreciation and highlight the spirit of teamwork, service and community that makes our unit so special.

A huge thank you to all of our volunteers for the time, commitment and hard work you give, whether responding during emergencies, supporting the community or being there when people need help most. Your efforts do not go unnoticed.

We’re proud to wear orange and proud to stand beside such an amazing team. 🧡

One year on from the floods, it’s a chance to reflect on a time that challenged our community in ways many of us will never forget.

Twelve months ago, our volunteers stood shoulder to shoulder with emergency services, partner agencies and community members, working through long days and sleepless nights to help those affected. We saw streets become rivers, homes impacted, plans changed in an instant, and people facing incredibly difficult circumstances.

But we also saw something else, neighbours helping neighbours, strangers becoming friends, communities rallying together and the strength that emerges when people support one another.

To everyone who volunteered their time, offered assistance, checked in on a neighbour, donated, or simply showed kindness during those difficult days, thank you. Recovery doesn’t end when the water recedes, and for many people the impacts can still be felt long after the event itself.

Today we remember the challenges, recognise the resilience shown by our community, and acknowledge everyone who played a part in helping others through one of our toughest times.

Thank you for standing together. 🧡
