Today we had our new Fire engine red roller door installed. Part of Fire and Rescue’s branding and building upgrades about to occur to the station over the next few months. The new door has ventilation panels installed, which allows natural air flow through our engine bay. We think it looks the goods!

They say you play how you train. Tonight at drill we combined multiple aspects, including gas detector use, chemical identification, new pump operator hours, hose handling and breathing apparatus use.
Many thanks to Temora Shire Council for the use of the ground and lights, being able to utilize such facility’s allows us to maintain our skills, which helps us protect our community.

Temora Fire and Rescue recently carried out Home Fire Safety Visits in Temora. The crew were welcomed by many residents, we talked about many aspects of fire safety in and around the home. We also were able to check many smoke alarms, replaced many and ensured all residents were fire safe in their homes.
Thanks for those residents that reached out to have us around to check things out. If you would like us to carry out a Home Fire Safety visit from our fireys, send us a message, contact the station or jump on line and book a safety visit.
The recent visits also allowed Firefighters Hingerty and Rollo to work on their modeling careers!

Temora Fire and Rescue crew have been kept busy this week. Yesterday morning crews were called to a caravan fire in town. On arrival crews found a caravan in the rear of a property well alight. Initial reports of a person unaccounted for, thankfully turned out not the case. Crews worked for around half an hour to extinguish the fire, well supported by Temora Police and Ambulance.
Tuesday crews were responded to a boat and rubbish fire. Residents are reminded you must contact the Fire station all year round to obtain a permit to burn. It is an offense if you burn off in the town limits without a permit. It’s a simple phone call to have our fireys assist you with your enquiry.
Yesterday we had a new notice board put in place at the station. This notice board will allow our fireys to place important messages to better inform our community.
Our crews always stay well informed and work on their skill set to be the best we can for our community. Last night FF Hargrave and
FF Sweeny, organized with our amazing Bundawarah Centre Manager Mr Bill Speirs and Museum President Ken Hewett for an in depth tour of the Museum. Crews carried out a Pre Incident Plan (PIP) on the facility and as many would know who have visited the facility, were suitably impressed with the outlay and collection, capturing the history of the Temora district and beyond. Many thanks to Bill and Ken for giving up their time.

Just after 5pm yesterday afternoon, Fire and Rescue NSW Station 456 Temora responded to reports of a house fire in Temora. On arrival crews found a single level house well alight. Crews got to work to extinguish the fire and took around an hour to bring the fire under control. Asbestos was present, which required extra attention to ensure everyone present was not exposed. Thanowring Rural Fire Brigade also responded and commenced property protection on some adjacent buildings, ensuring no additional fire spread.
Crews were well supported by NSW Police, NSW Ambulance and Essential Energy.
Crews were also well assisted by Fire and Rescue crews attending from Cootamundra, Harden and a Hazmat crew from Wagga.
No one was injured in the fire and we wish the family all the best with their recovery.

Not all superheroes wear capes. Firefighter Dean Ward carrying out tests on installed smoke alarms, as part of Home Fire Safety Visits 456 Station Temora carried out this week.
Now is a great time heading into winter to have your local fireys come and check your smoke alarms and talk about home fire safety.

The week that was at 456 Station Temora. From a very successful open day, to a visit from Commissioner Fewtrell and F&R Executive Director Kelly McFadyen.
Attending incidents and having our crew attend other community engagement events, including Skywhales across Australia and assisting our neighboring station 262 Coolamon with Home fire safety visits and recruitment.
