Welcome to 2019!
A new year, and with it, new works on our intended picnic and shelter area!
Great community spirit builds great communities and there's plenty of community spirit being shared today.
Many thanks to all who pitched in to help in 2018 and preemptive thanks to all who have put their hands up to help in 2019!
Keep an eye out for working bees to come, hope to see you here!

Birds spotted during a quick trip down to Terang Community Park and Wetlands yesterday included a pair of little ducks much like the Pacific Black Duck pictured, another pair of ducks of an undetermined species, a solitary Plover, W***y Wagtails, Swallows, and other small birds of undetermined species.
The wetland area is attracting plenty of native fauna.
If you are good with bird or frog identification, get down to the wetlands and check out what is there, let us know what they are!

If you're not doing anything next Tuesday evening, 20 November, take off your ties and work suits and get down to Terang Community Park and Wetlands for a short working bee!
We have w**d mat to lay, w**ds to remove, and mulch to be spread. Bring a shovel or garden fork and some elbow grease. Many hands make light work!
6.30 to 8.30 depending on weather...see you there!

Are you taking part in the National Museum's frog count? What better place to do it than at your new local wetlands?
Follow the link to download the app to record the sound of frogs, which will then be identified and counted, then head down to our new wetlands area and help us find out who has moved in.
Hop to it!

We held our monthly meeting down at the wetlands this time as the days are getting longer and we can see what needs to be done!
We have another working bee organised for this Sunday 21 October. Come along from 9am and help us get on top of the maintenance required to make this a place for all to enjoy!
We welcome anybody who has a few hours spare and the energy even to pull out a handful of w**ds! No experience required, just the willingness to help. BYO tools (some are provided along with a morning tea) and wear weather appropriate clothing.
Enjoy these photos of the wonderful skies that can be seen...come along and take your own!

A few drops of rain on Sunday were not enough to stop a small band of dedicated volunteers from making a start on one of the big projects we have to do at the wetlands which is to lay down w**d mat and plant more wetland plants into it. One bank was completed but we have a few more to do so we can keep the w**ds down, there will be more working bees coming up so keep your eyes peeled for notifications!
A big thank you to all that came along, cup of tea time was a great opportunity to get to know everyone.
On another happy note we were lucky enough to find a clutch of eggs from our newly resident Plovers! There are ducks on the ponds as well as the sound of frogs! It seems we are well on track to providing habitat for our native wildlife, take a stroll around the waters edge and see what you can see but watch where you put your feet at the moment!

From little things big things grow! Our newly installed solar pump has started to pump water from the drain in the dry lake bed into the wetlands ponds! With all this rain we've been getting, it won't be long before they reach full levels.
Don't forget our working bee this Sunday at 9am, we have trees to plant and plenty of other maintenance jobs to complete. Many hands make light work!
See you there!
