Scam alert- so spread it far and wide. There is a publishing company cold calling local businesses reporting to represent local VicSES Volunteers seeking advertising $.
To be clear they do not represent us and any money spent on advertising does not support your local SES IN ANY WAY!!

My businesss received a call from them this morning. So i felt i needed to warn others.

VicSES Head Office is legally seeking ways to stop them from doing this.

A Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating has been currently forecast for Friday 9 January 2026 in the Northern Country, North Central and Wimmera districts. A Catastrophic rating signals the worst possible conditions for grass and bushfires. For your survival, leave bushfire risk areas - if a fire starts and takes hold, lives are likely to be lost.

An Extreme Fire Danger Rating has also been forecast for the remainder of the state. Take action now to protect your life and property.

Stay up to date with warnings and incidents via VicEmergency: www.emergency.vic.gov.au

Fire Danger Ratings are forecast using Bureau of Meteorology data up to four days in advance, but can change on the day. Therefore, it is important to check the Fire Danger Rating for your area every day and know which rating is your trigger to act.

Terang SES would like to wish our community a very happy, safe, and enjoyable Christmas. We hope this festive season is filled with time spent with family, friends, and loved ones.🎄🎁

As many people will be travelling over the holidays, we’d like to remind everyone to please take extra care on the roads:

- Slow down and drive to conditions
- Never drive tired or under the influence
- Buckle up and make sure everyone in the vehicle is wearing a seatbelt
- Watch out for increased traffic, especially on rural roads

Our volunteers are always ready to respond if needed, but we’d much rather everyone get home safely without incident.

From all of us at Terang SES, stay safe, look after one another, and enjoy the festive season. 🎅🧡🤍🧡

Just a friendly check-in from your local SES crew!

We’ve still got severe wind warnings in place today, and there’s also a fair bit of water sitting on the roads concealing & creating some pretty nasty potholes (that us Victorians have gotten quite used to by now!) So please take extra care if you’re out and about.

What to expect:
- Strong winds throughout the day. Some gusts might give the trees a real shake.
- Water pooling on roads from recent rain, making potholes harder to spot and vehicles harder to control.
- Fallen branches, trees and possible power outages.

Here’s how you can get storm-ready:
✅ Bring in or tie down anything that could go flying — bins, outdoor furniture, trampolines, garden gnomes.
✅ Park cars away from trees if possible.
✅ Charge your phone and grab a torch and radio, just in case the power goes out.
✅ If you’re driving, SLOW DOWN, watch for water across the road, potholes, and never drive through floodwater.
✅ Keep an eye out for fallen trees or power lines, stay well clear and report them.

Need help?
Call SES on 132 500 for storm damage or flood assistance.
Call 000 in an emergency.

Let’s all look out for each other today, check in on neighbours, keep pets inside, and stay safe out there! 🧡🤍🧡
