With the rain expected to ease today and sunshine finally forecast to return, we could soon see an end to the wet weather.

However, with strengthening winds and saturated ground, there is an increased risk of trees coming down.

If you come across a fallen tree, stay clear and be aware it may have brought down powerlines. Call the SES on 132 500 for assistance, or Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.

After months of planning, crews were finally able to put that planning into practice, assisting NSW Ambulance with the multi-agency Exercise, Paratas.

This was held on the Barracks Parade Ground in Manly alongside NSW Police Force, Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW SES Warringah / Pittwater Unit, St John Ambulances and BloodLife.

This event consisted of two simulated exercises resulting in a “mass casualty” situation. Our crews worked along side other emergency services providing initial first aid and fire protection.

Congratulations to all involved and on the completion of a fantastic interagency training operation.

A driver was fortunate to escape this morning with only minor injuries after rolling their 4WD near St Ives Showground.

Fire and Rescue crews worked quickly to cut the rear door from the vehicle, allowing the driver to safely climb out.

With recent rain making roads slippery and conditions hazardous, this is an important reminder to slow down, take extra care, and drive to the conditions.
