🚁 DRONE SAFETY DURING BUSHFIRES

As hazard reduction burns continue across the state and we look ahead to the upcoming fire season, it’s a timely reminder for all drone operators.

🔥 If firefighting or emergency aircraft are operating, keep your drone grounded.

Even a small drone in the air can result in firefighting aircraft being unable to operate, potentially delaying critical aerial firefighting and emergency response when every second counts.

If you see smoke, fire or emergency aircraft nearby — don’t fly. Keep your drone on the ground and stay well clear of the area.

Great to see our Deputy Captain Joel representing the NSW Rural Fire Service overseas and getting such a warm welcome from Central Pierce Fire & Rescue. 🇦🇺🤝🇺🇸

We had the opportunity to welcome two visiting firefighters from Australia to Station 72 yesterday.

Firefighters Christopher Hayward and Joel Port with the New South Wales Rural Fire Service are two of more than 350 firefighters from Australia and New Zealand who have traveled to the U.S. to support wildfire response efforts.

Christopher and Joel recently completed a 14-day assignment on the Little Giant Fire and are spending their rest cycle in the Puyallup area before receiving their next 14-day assignment.

We currently have a Captain/Paramedic deployed as a line medic on the Little Giant Fire, making it especially meaningful to connect with two of the international firefighters who supported the same incident.

We appreciated the opportunity to visit with Christopher and Joel, learn more about their experience, and share a little about Central Pierce Fire & Rescue.

🎉 Congratulations, Crew Leaders Jason & Bec! 🚒🔥

A huge congratulations to Jason and Bec, who both successfully completed their Crew Leader assessments tonight and are now officially qualified Crew Leaders!

Both have put in huge amounts time and effort to get to this point, and it’s great to see that hard work rewarded. Taking the step into a Crew Leader role is a big achievement and an important part of continuing to build the brigade’s leadership and operational capability.

Jason and Bec now join Logan as our three newest Crew Leaders, which is a fantastic result for the brigade.

Well done Jason and Bec, a very well-deserved achievement, and we’re proud to have you both stepping into the role! 👏🔥🚒

🎉 Congratulations, Crew Leader Logan! 🚒🔥

A massive congratulations to Logan, who today was deemed competent in his Crew Leader assessment and can now officially call himself Crew Leader Logan!

Logan is one of our brigade’s most active members and is always there when needed — whether it’s training, incidents or helping out around the brigade.

At only 18 years old, he’s now also our youngest Crew Leader-qualified member in a very long time, which is a pretty incredible achievement.

It’s been great watching Logan develop through the brigade and continue to take on more responsibility along the way.

A very well-deserved result. Well done, Logan — we’re all proud of you! 👏🚒🔥

Deployments like these are a fantastic opportunity to support our international firefighting partners while sharing the skills, experience and professionalism of the NSW RFS.
