📏⚖️🧪 Measuring Up in Year 3/4!

Our Year 3/4 students have been measuring up as they explore mass, length and capacity!

We’ve been getting hands-on with our learning by practising hefting to make sensible estimates before measuring, and investigating the difference between standard and non-standard units of measurement.

From comparing and estimating to measuring and checking our answers, the students have been busy developing their mathematical thinking and having plenty of fun along the way! 🌟

It’s wonderful to see our learners getting stuck into practical activities and discovering that maths really is all around us! 💙📚

🌟 Celebrating Our Wonderful School Community! 🌟

This afternoon at parade, we had the opportunity to say a very special thank you to some of the amazing community members who help make Anakie State School such a wonderful place to be. 💙

📚 Michelle and Grant from Brewstar Coffee were recognised for their incredible fundraising efforts during our recent Book Fair. They certainly weren’t shy about encouraging (or perhaps even “harassing” 😉) their customers to dig deep and donate! Their efforts raised nearly $400, helping us reach an amazing $1,334 total for our Book Fair. Every new book we can add to our school library means so much to our students, and we are incredibly grateful for their support.

🌱 Jason from Central Highlands Landscaping was also recognised for his generous donation of two wicking garden beds for our school. Jason delivered the garden beds this afternoon and will be back soon to help our students set them up and get them ready for planting.

Our students will have the exciting opportunity to choose some vegetables and flowers, plant them and then take responsibility for caring for and tending to their gardens. We can’t wait to see them grow! 🌻🥕🌱

At Anakie State School, we are incredibly fortunate to have such a supportive community around us. Our school is stronger because of the people who generously give their time, resources and encouragement to our students.

📚💛 A HUGE Book Fair Thank You! 💛📚

What an incredible result! We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our Anakie State School Book Fair exceeded our $1,000 goal and raised an amazing $1,334! 🎉🎉

A HUGE thank you to every student, parent, family and community member who supported our Book Fair by purchasing books, donating books or simply spreading the word. Your support makes such a difference to our little school library. 📖❤️

Even better, we have earned 30% commission in books of our choice to add to our library collection! 📚✨ That means lots of new and exciting books for our students to enjoy.

A very special THANK YOU to Michelle and Grant from Brewstar Coffee ☕💛 for going above and beyond to support our Book Fair. Michelle certainly put her customers to work, advocating for our school and encouraging them to donate! 😂 Her efforts resulted in nearly $400 in donations, which helped push us over our $1,000 goal!

We are incredibly grateful for the generosity and community spirit shown by everyone. It truly takes a community to support a school, and we are so lucky to have such wonderful people behind Anakie State School. 🥰

📚🎶 What a wonderful Book Week Parade! 🎶📚

What a fantastic morning we had on Monday morning celebrating Book Week! 📖✨

Our students certainly embraced the theme “Symphonies of Stories”, with an amazing array of creative, colourful and imaginative costumes. It was so much fun seeing everyone proudly showing off their costumes and celebrating their love of books and reading! 🥰📚🎭

Reading is such an important part of learning at Anakie, and we love seeing our students so involved, enthusiastic and excited about books and stories. ❤️📖

A very special THANK YOU to our wonderful local community member, Grace Peterson, who joined us as our special judge for the Best Dressed costumes. Grace generously donated some of her own books as prizes, and our school library also donated a book for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. 🏆📚

Grace is a retired school teacher and has written and illustrated an amazing 13 books, including some that she has created with her daughter. 📚✏️🎨 She told us how much she loved being back in a school, surrounded by the enthusiasm and excitement of our students — and we loved having her here!

Thank you, Grace, for sharing your love of books and reading with our Anakie students and helping make our Book Week celebration extra special. 💕📚

And a HUGE well done to all of our students and staff for getting involved and making our parade such a fun and memorable morning! 🌟

🌟 PBL EXPECTATIONS – WEEK 7 and 8 🌟

This week and next week, our PBL focus is all about being RESPECTFUL 💙

Our school expectation is:

🤝 Be Respectful – We are inclusive and positive in our interactions with others.

We are encouraging our students to think about how their words and actions affect the people around them and to take responsibility for the choices they make.

This week, we will be focusing on:

💠 Taking responsibility for our actions and how they affect others.
💠 Reporting and resolving issues and admitting fault when we are responsible.
💠 Offering a sincere apology when we have made a mistake or hurt someone.

Being respectful doesn't mean we never make mistakes — it means we own our actions, learn from them and make things right. 💙

Let's continue to support our students to be Safe, Respectful and Responsible members of our Anakie State School community. 🌟
