NSW SES The Rock Unit

NSW SES The Rock Unit The NSW State Emergency Service (SES) is an emergency and rescue service dedicated to assisting the community. By using this page, you will not:

1. Swear.

The Rock NSW SES (New South Wales State Emergency Service) Unit is the local combat agency for flood and storms and also responds to Road Crashs, Land Searchs and Animal Rescues. It is made up almost entirely of volunteers, with 228 units located throughout New South Wales. The units comprise of approximately 10,000 volunteer members, who are easily identified by their distinctive orange overalls.

While our major responsibilities are for flood and storm operations, the NSW SES also provides the majority of general rescue effort in the State. This includes road accident rescue, vertical rescue, bush search and rescue, evidence searches (both metropolitan and rural) and other forms of specialist rescue that may be required due to local threats. Volunteers in a number of isolated communities have been trained as Community First Responders by the Ambulance Service of New South Wales. The Service's trained rescuers also support the full-time emergency services during major disasters. The NSW SES also assists other emergency services when they are performing major operations. These services include the NSW Police Force, the NSW Rural Fire Service, the Fire and Rescue NSW and the Ambulance Service of NSW. General information

We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident off Ballina Bar overnigt.
Not only the loss of life from Marine Rescue NSW, but also the loss of life from the vessel they were responding to.
This sort of incident is a reminder of what the 000 Community often face every time they answer a call for help, and frequently in the most challenging and dangerous conditions.
We extend our sincere condolences to the families, friends, and fellow members of Marine Rescue NSW, as well as all those affected by this tragedy.
Our thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.

Today, members pause to honour the courage and sacrifice of the Australians who gave their lives in service to our nation.

In observing this moment of silence, we reflect on their bravery, and on all who have served, and continue to serve our country.

Lest We Forget.

Southern Inland NSW severe weather
Stay indoors
Watch and Act

The NSW SES is advising people in the following area(s) to STAY INDOORS due to intense rainfall, flash flooding:

- Wagga Wagga
- Griffith

You should monitor the situation as it is constantly changing.

What are we expecting?

The Bureau of Meteorology advises tropical humidity continues on the eastern flank of a low in the far southwest of the state, resulting in a broad rainband with isolated thunderstorms. This system is moving slowly eastward and is forecast to be over the eastern Riverina by Tuesday morning, with rainfall clearing from the west in its wake.

Locally INTENSE RAINFALL which may lead to DANGEROUS AND LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODING is possible over eastern parts of the Riverina, South West Slopes and Southern Tablelands overnight. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 70 to 90 mm are possible.

The risk of HEAVY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL is forecast to ease throughout during Tuesday morning.

Flood Watches and Warnings are current for the area. Please refer to https://www.bom.gov.au/weather-and-climate/warnings-and-alerts/ for more information.

This event may change quickly. NSW SES will monitor the situation and update warnings if the situation changes.
