The Fire Danger Rating (FDR) for the Greater Hunter region tomorrow is High.

The FDR for the Greater Sydney region is Extreme, with a Total Fire Ban in place. The Greater Sydney region includes the Central Coast area.

A Total Fire Ban will be in place tomorrow, Saturday 5 September for the Greater Sydney Region, with Extreme fire danger forecast.

Warm, dry and windy conditions are forecast across parts of the state, with much of northeast NSW experiencing High fire danger.

Take action now. Know your fire risk and what you will do if fire threatens. Remember to report all unattended fires to Triple Zero (000).

Particularly during bushfire season (which locally begins on 01 October), you will see us posting fire danger ratings, particularly when they are extreme or catastrophic.

Here’s some information on what those ratings mean. If you see extreme or catastrophic ratings, please take the time to heed any warnings and consider your plans. You and your family’s life may depend on it.

Do you know your fire danger ratings?

Fire danger ratings:

❌ don't show how likely a bushfire is to start or how dangerous current fires are
✅ do show how difficult it will be to control/suppress a fire on the day
✅ are based on weather and fuel conditions.

🔥 Warnings are issued for extreme or catastrophic fire danger ratings.

Just 3 days to go until some of our members again complete the Firies Climb for Motor Neurone Disease. They will travel ...

Just 3 days to go until some of our members again complete the Firies Climb for Motor Neurone Disease. They will travel ~230Km to descend then climb back up 951 steps of the Furber steps in the Blue Mountains.

The track covers a distance of 2.2km and has an elevation gain of 511 metres. This is a challenging climb at any time, let alone whilst wearing bulky and heavy firefighting uniform and equipment!

800 Australians die of Motor Neuron Disease (MND) every year, with annual death rates increasing by 300% since the 1980s. The funds raised by Firies Climb for MND fund research and clinical trials at the Macquarie University Motor Neuron Disease Research Centre.
