Its official, we are MRQ, with a new tent for market days, the promotions team were on duty last Saturday at TCB markets, to answer all your questions. You can still call the base on 5486 4290, or log on by VHF Ch 16, or 80, or call 131 MRQ for info. WBB info can be found on the MSQ web site under Notice to Mariners, Maryborough pilotage area number 384 T of 2026.

The boys had a new neighbor, Deb, selling raffle tickets for a House Boat trip, donated by Rainbow Beach H/Boats, on behalf of the TCB Rescue Supporters Association inc. who are now running the Country club raffles on Friday nights. Yes, they are MRQ members, after a long legal battle CG vs MRQ members cannot sell raffle tickets while in uniform in public place including Licensed premises.

Just an updated pic on the progress of the Crab Creek boat ramp works. Started to lay new crusher dust for base etc. and a bit wider than before.
Cheers
Karl

Do you Know the difference between LROCP & SROCP radio frequencies?

GMDSS Sea Areas A1–A4 - Infographics

* A1 – VHF DSC: Area within the coverage of at least one VHF coast station providing continuous DSC alerting. Typical range is about 20–30 NM.
* A2 – MF DSC: Area beyond A1 but within the coverage of at least one MF coast station providing continuous DSC alerting. Typical range is about 100–150 NM.
* A3 – Satellite: Area beyond A1 and A2 but within the coverage of a recognized mobile satellite service. There is no fixed nautical-mile range.
* A4 – Outside A1, A2 and A3: Areas not covered by A1, A2, or A3, commonly associated with polar regions. HF communication is used.

Key point: GMDSS sea areas are defined primarily by available communication coverage, not simply by distance from the coastline.
