Toodyay Central Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade would like to thank those present who helped send off three of our founding members at our OGM tonight. Brian Wood, Desrae and Wayne Clarke, life members are stepping down from their auxiliary roles, however they are always welcome at our station. Congratulations and thank you to Brian, Desrae and Wayne for their service over many years. Our congratulations also go to John Morrissey who at our AGM earlier this year was awarded our volunteer of the year 2025/2026. John was overseas at the time and wasn’t available to receive his award so it was wonderful to make the presentation to him tonight.
Additionally, we were gifted antique radios by Shelly Dival. These were some of the first radios used by Toodyay brigades.

Below are a few words from our chief Craig Stewart, who couldn’t attend:
I would like to thank the founding members of the brigade.
I know it will not be that we don’t see them around.
Active is just a word … the legacy and the founding dedication by those brigade members is reflected in the spirit of support and quiet professional duty that continues and is the hallmark of Central Brigade.

Thank you to the trainers and volunteers who gave up their weekend to undertake basic fire fighting courses. It is the perfect time of the year for new volunteers to take on these courses and learn the basics preparing them for the coming season. If you are thinking of joining a Toodyay Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade now is the time to contact your nearest brigade; it isn’t too late. Contact information for each Brigade is on the Shire Website.

Today Toodyay Central Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade along with the Toodyay Volunteer Fire Rescue Service participated in an annual truck detailing task and station clean up. This was followed with a BBQ for the workers. We would like to thank all the volunteers who participated with the enthusiasm and camaraderie our brigades are known for. Additionally, our thanks go out to the Toodyay Bakery for once again donating the buns for our BBQ, we really do appreciate your support with these events. Thank you.

Thank you to all the Toodyay volunteers who responded today to the callout. Our Central crew is now home safely and hopefully resting well for this weekend. We are grateful that you give so generously of your time.

Thank you to our volunteers who attended the Incident Reporting System course today as having multiple members being competent with this system builds redundancy. We are so grateful when our volunteers take on extra tasks that shares the work load. Well done.

Our brigade is very appreciative of all our volunteers who go the extra mile for our community. Friday June 12, seven of our volunteers visited Toodyay District High School for an exercise showing the students what volunteering is all about. Thank you to Aurelie for supplying us with photos of our brigade as I wasn’t able to attend. There were many photos of the students who looked like they enjoyed the activities and although I won’t post these it appears we might have some budding volunteers in the near future. Thank you Toodyay District High School for hosting this event and all volunteers who gave of their time.

It was lovely to see Brad, Hannah and Hudson visit us at Central this week, which was an opportune time to present Brad with a certificate of appreciation. Over a four-year period Brad served the Brigade as a Lieutenant, appliance driver and fire fighter prior to leaving Toodyay at the end of the season and subsequently joining the Byford Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade. We wish them all the best for the future.

Today we held our regular Friday evening truck checks, just another activity we ask our volunteers to attend to make sure all our appliances are in working order. Mel Deighton is one of our new volunteers and as well as helping on Fridays she also attended her first two callouts this week. Congratulations to Mel for successfully completing the courses needed to volunteer with our brigade and then following through with the commitment to help others.
Additionally, thank you to all our volunteers who answered the calls this week.

We would like to thank our members who represented our Brigade at the Toodyay Emergency Services Dinner; Frank Magee, Chris Stothers, Camden Pope, Mick McKeown, Ebony Francis, Wayne Clarke , Desrae Clarke, Will Hort and Lorraine Hort.

Our brigade awards; Ebony Francis 10 year medal and Wayne Clarke 35 year clasp. Congratulations our brigade is very proud of you both.

Congratulations and thank you also to all those special individuals who were acknowledged.
