🦘 A Very Special Wallaroo Needs Your Support . Meet Hope🦘
We received a call about a young wallaroo that had been pacing along a roadside verge for approximately a week. When she first arrived in care, she appeared healthy and in good condition, but after a few days we realised something wasn't quite right.
A closer examination revealed severe pressure sores hidden beneath the long fur around her feet and legs, along with a missing toenail. She was immediately taken to the vet, where she was diagnosed with a compound fracture of her primary weight-bearing toe and osteomyelitis, a bone infection.
For wallabies and wallaroos, this toe is critically important. It bears most of their weight and plays a major role in balance, movement, and survival in the wild. The prognosis for injuries like this is often guarded, particularly when infection is involved.
Despite the challenges ahead, we have decided to give this girl every chance possible. ❤️
The road to recovery will likely be long and will require intensive veterinary care, medication, wound management, and rehabilitation. We don't know what the outcome will be, but she is bright, she is fighting, and we believe she deserves the opportunity to try.If anyone would like to help with her veterinary expenses, we would be incredibly grateful.
