Toongabbie Mechanics Institute The only existing timber two-storey Mechanics’ Institute left in Victoria. The Toongabbie Mechanics Institute was constructed in 1883.

The method of construction being timber frame and weatherboard with a corrugated iron roof.

A huge thank you to the Strzelecki Stringbusters.
Your generous support at our recent
🎉 140th Birthday celebration, has allowed the Toongabbie Mechanics Institute management committee to raise almost $2,000.

These funds enable the various community groups to continue having access to this great hall. With no external support from any political or government agencies, it can be tough to pay the bills, and this money will see us stay open for another 12 months.

We would also like to acknowledge The Wellington Latrobe Lions Club for providing the splendid BBQ, Toongabbie Cricket Club, Toongabbie Cricket Club for providing the large quantity of refreshments and toongabbie.vic.au for their operational support.

If you would like to volunteer to help out at one of our upcoming events, or simply want to hire the hall, please message or email this page.

Without all your generous support we would struggle to keep the doors open. ❤️

TOONGABBIE MECHANICS INSTITUTE COMMITTEE INC.

Notice is given of a

PUBLIC MEETING

to be held at the Toongabbie Mechanics Institute Meeting Room on Wednesday 14th June 2023 commencing at 7.30pm.

The purpose of the meeting is to nominate no less than three (3) or more than nine (9) persons as the Committee of Management for the Toongabbie Mechanics Institute Committee for a term of three years.

The current committee’s term will expire on 14th June 2023. All positions will be declared open and nominations will be accepted prior to or on the night.

Nominations from women, Aboriginal people, people with disabilities, young people and people from culturally diverse backgrounds are encouraged.

Further information, nomination forms and nominee declaration forms may be obtained by contacting your local Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action office or at the meeting.
