πŸ†˜ I thought I made a dinner reservation for $15 but $156 came out of my bank account πŸ’€

ANYWAY, we embrace the chaos after thinking "holy f**k how can a ramen place cost $80 per person."

I walk in and it's this 16 person communal table, sensory deprivation vibes + art + the most wonderfully pleasant music creating a full sensory experience.

There were quite a few courses and a few Yuzu sakes before the main event of ramen and HOLY. There's this whole way to do it where you start at the front of the bowl and as you eat it, the flavours change by the moment. I was experiencing it in real time 🀯

It was a massive bowl and it tasted so good and flavourful that I never wanted it to end as I felt myself growing fuller. You're encouraged to slurp it and have a time. It got me thinking about how fun life can be. Food is life to me if you can't tell but damn that was such a playful and fun experience. I then checked back in the dining card and it said the whole experience is meant to make you think about "what it means to eat and to live, and to celebrate the delight of living."

I then got sentimental because it turns out I actually dedicate my work to that, especially when you add in the waiting disorders work I do 😭 everything is bloody connected, isn't it? Then it also talked about that on the card too 😭

Food as art experience got me good + in the feels as all good art does.

May you enjoy food as the playground of life sometimes on this floating rock we're on.

I'm officially on holidays! But firstly, how talented is the lovely human who did this in only an hour? It's so bizarre how the universe works because I was just reading about a live portrait drawer and thought HOW COOL and then this miraculously happened to me. Even includes the shirt I was wearing in session!!!!!!

Do you know what I never anticipated in any type of career I thought I'd have? Well firstly owning my own business AND being a social worker hahahah but also spending sooooo long planning to go on a holiday with clients including giving them heaps of notice, care planning for while I'm away, alleviating all their fears about me dying overseas etc (because I've learnt that apparently travelling without an e-sim is a death in and of itself).

The best way to start a holiday as a small biz owner? Getting an email an hour before leaving from my accountant saying I'm getting a tax REFUND. um........ WHAT? If you know you know. It's v meaningful because it's a culmination of allllllll the practices I've put in place for a sustainable practice + life.

I'll probably still post because I love sharing things when relevant but yeh don't text me cos I'm phone stays on airplane mode because I think a part of the journey is getting lost, lost again, and then lost again πŸ›Έ

This post isn't about the B**M and kink community. It's more "remember when the algorithm wasn't serving this stuff to kids and you actually had to ~find~ a baddie from the B**M community to learn cool stuff." πŸ˜… It's almost like leaving expert things to the experts has a purpose.

I just really want parents, carers, educators, etc to know what young people are consuming online. And I want young people to know there's worse things to be known as than vanilla omg.

This one's for young people navigating this for the first time, not for people in the B**M community who already practise informed consent, understand the risks, and know what they're doing. If that's you, this isn't aimed at you.

This isn't about shame but about making sure people actually have the information before they're in the moment. Because right now, a lot of us don't and you keep telling me there's "safer" ways to do it and idk if that's even true anymore.

If this post brought something up for you, whether it's a past experience, a current relationship, or just a lot of feelings, please don't sit with it alone:

It's wear it purple day tomorrow and we're unable to have our usual stall at the event because I'll be on holidays and all our young people are going THROUGH it.

Our market stall group have agreed to fund a wonderful member's autism assessment and I've secured it for a very helpful price. I'm wondering if there's anyone who might need some picky pads with all funds going to helping fund their assessment?

You can honestly have this whole massive bunch for $150 including shipping. Then we'll be halfway to our goal of raising $1000.

If you're after any individual ones or a few, DM me and we'll come up with a dealio. I'll also be in my office and free for you to come grab some tomorrow if that works.

Do you know something I think about everyday? Having a practice speciality that isn't in my lived experience realm and what that looks like.

We talk so much about the value of lived experience and I'm soooooooooo here for it. But I don't see as many conversations about what it's like not having lived experience. For me it's about humility, curiousity, using my privilege for the greater good (hopefully and with intentionality), and leaving everyday with the fullest heart thinking about how grateful I am that people share their stories and their identities with me. Maybe there's a bit of "we're working this out" together vibes which some people really like. I'm not an expert in anything except myself. And you're the expert of yourself. But I can sit with you through all the bad, the unfair, the traumatic, and celebrate with you through the highs, growth, and wholesomeness.

Maybe that's why I don't speak about my ~actual~ practice much because while I have clinical knowledge and years of work experience, I'm always trying to listen and learn more. Because there's always more listening and learning to be done.

I'd love to hear other people's experiences of working in a field where they don't have lived experience and what that looks like.

I did get this slay the house down cake made and I found it scrolling through my photo albums the other day. I'm thinking it's time to yassify Dalby. Who's in? What q***r events should be do?

If you haven't experienced the magic of body doubling and the hyperfocus you can go into, come along. It's wild! Even on my most tiredest days where I say I'll just chill, I end up writing something and feeling so much better after.

I gift thee... My resident satin Bowerbird nest!

A constant reminder to stop and appreciate the small (blue) things.

People often ask me if I put blue things out for him and it actually ties into feminist theory and social work practice. No, I'm not taking on the mental load of another man πŸ˜…. And secondly, I trust he can empower himself to do what he needs to do & he's clearly doing great!!

I do think we'll get more data, and more quickly, on barriers to using funds and hopefully that can be used to help actually make the funding more accessible but I might be dreaming 😭
