A big day out for our Open Mixed & 15s Girls Touch teams today!

Both teams showed plenty of heart, determination and teamwork while battling it out in the heat at Highfields State Secondary College in the HSSC Invitational.

The evening will provide important information about Year 11 subject selection, SET Planning and senior schooling pathways.

Harristown State High School has partnered with Wellio to work with again this year.

Wellio helps students proactively improve their mental wellbeing using research-backed habits and techniques. Their programme supports students in improving their sleep, managing social media use, building healthy relationships, improving physical well-being, and reducing anxiety.

The upcoming webinar for this term is titled Friendship Problems and Social Stress. With teens spending more time online, many parents worry about how to keep them safe while also nurturing their independence.

⚽ More Than Just Playing ⚽

Through the Harristown Sports Academy, we aim to expose students to the many pathways available including playing, coaching, administration and refereeing.

In football—

Congratulations to Clancy from our Football Academy, who officiated four local Junior Grand Finals last weekend—taking charge as the centre referee for two matches and serving as an assistant referee for another two.

Clancy continues a proud tradition of Harristown students and staff that are contributing to the game as match officials —including Sulaiman Zandinan, Buddy Lowery and Mr MacKinnon. Without referees, games simply cannot go ahead.

Interested in following Clancy’s path? Keep an eye out for match-official courses running in Toowoomba during the off-season.

In Week 6, our Year 9 students who achieved an impressive GPA of 4.5 or higher in Term 2 were invited to enjoy a special morning tea in recognition of their academic achievement.

It was a great opportunity to celebrate the hard work, dedication and commitment these students have shown in their learning, and to see them taking pride in their achievements alongside their peers.

Congratulations to all of our Year 9 students recognised — a fantastic achievement and well deserved!

Science wasn't confined to the classroom during National Science Week!

Students spent their break times tackling hands-on STEM challenges, from constructing Da Vinci Bridges and mastering the tricky Cobra Weave to making their own ice cream while exploring the chemistry of super-cooled salty ice.

A reminder that curiosity doesn't come with an age limit. Science badges were a hit right across the school!
