I ventured out into the garden this morning - before it got too hot. First I was greeted by a family of red backed fairy wrens - just cheking out the grass stems for any tasty morsels. There was some loud bird calls, so I went further to investigate - 2 sulphur crested cockatoos - I think they were seeing if there were any pecans ready yet. Either none ready yet, or they have already eaten them - more investigation required. I fed and watered the chooks, and promised myself I'd come back and set up a time saving watering system for the pens, and continue with the predator proofing. I threw in some cut grass, and some hay for something interesting for them for the day. I then picked up some of the branches from when we pruned the Tipu's in the food forest area. I planted another tree - so many ready to go in - I brought home most of the trees I had growing at The Permie Shop (It has been closed for a few years now - Many open again, but we will see where life takes me). The one I planted is a bit of a mystery, as his tag is long gone, but I'll give him some time to recover, and then use google search to get him a name. Just as I finshed watering him in and giving the other trees waiting a water - I had a very brief encounter with a blue banded bee! Always a treat! Then turned off the tap, under the Geisah girls that need a major prune (but the bees do like them). As I walked back towards the house a W***y wag tail told me what for - as they do. Then I encountered the large goanna that has been living here too. I think Simon is right, and we now have 2. A large one and a small one. The large one has been getting fat from our chooks eggs!! Anyway I tried to shoo him, and he pretended to be scared and scurried off. I forgot to mention the 3 butterflies I saw. 2 black and white ones, and an orange Monarch (I think). Then as I am sitting on the verandah taking my shoes off - I finish my outing with a quick visit from a dragon fly - perfect end - they are my favourite! Sorry no photos, but I'm sure you can imagine them all.
