Torbanlea State School

Torbanlea State School Welcome to The Torbanlea State School page. Torbanlea has a long history of excellence and high standing in the community.

Historically it has grown with the fortunes of the area and recent years have been no exception. The early years of struggling to establish a school for local children in the 1800’s has set the tone for an ongoing regard and community involvement in the school. The school, which is approximately 20 km north of Maryborough, just off the Bruce Highway, has a clientele from the beachside suburbs of T

oogoom and Burrum Heads as well as from the rural areas of Stafford Estate, Burrum Town and Torbanlea itself. Although the school has experienced growth, it has still maintained that ‘country school’ feel, characterised by its friendliness and close community spirit. The Torbanlea school motto of ‘Honour and Truth’ is central to the expectations of how both students and staff operate. It provides the basis for our behaviour framework which focuses on Respect, Effort, Self Responsibility and Safety.

This week we celebrate Harmony Week, a time to recognise and celebrate the rich cultural diversity that makes Australia such a vibrant and inclusive place.

To mark the occasion, our Student Council will be hosting a fundraiser on Thursday 19 March. Students are invited to bring along a gold coin donation to support the event. 💰

Together we celebrate respect, inclusion and belonging for everyone. 🤝🧡

📢 Torbanlea State School P&C AGM Invitation 📢

Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians,

You’re warmly invited to attend our P&C Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 18 March at 9:30am, held here at Torbanlea State School.

At this meeting, we will be electing our 2026 P&C Executive Team, and we would love to see as many members of our school community there as possible. Attending meetings is a great way to share your ideas, perspectives, and skills to help shape the exciting activities and initiatives that benefit our students throughout the year.

👉 You don’t have to nominate for an executive role to attend — your voice and input are valuable.

Executive Roles Available:
• President – Leads and oversees the association
• Vice President – Supports the President and steps in when needed
• Secretary – Manages communication and meeting minutes
• Treasurer – Oversees finances and budgeting
• Fundraising Coordinator – Organises events and fundraising initiatives
• Tuckshop Coordinator – Organises Tuckshop and sporting / school initiatives

These roles play an important part in supporting our school and making informed decisions that positively impact our students, staff, and families. We encourage anyone interested to consider nominating.

📅 Please also note that general meeting dates for the year have been shared so families can plan ahead.

📝 Meeting minutes will be provided to all parents after each meeting.

For more information about the work of P&C Associations across Queensland, you can visit the P&C Queensland website.

✨ We look forward to a fantastic year ahead with the continued support of our wonderful P&C community!
