Happy World Ocean Day! 🐳🐙🐠🦀🐬🦑🌊

A global celebration that recognises the importance of healthy oceans and inspires action to protect them for future generations.

At Albany’s Historic Whaling Station, the ocean is at the heart of our story. Our site preserves an important chapter in Australia’s maritime history, while also encouraging reflection on how our relationship with whales and the marine environment has evolved. Where whales were once hunted, they are now protected, studied and celebrated, with thousands migrating along our coast each year.

Today is a reminder of how far we have come and the important role we all play in caring for our oceans and the incredible wildlife they support.

What a night to remember ✨

Benang Koondarm: Tomorrow’s Dream brought our community together for an unforgettable evening of culture, connection and celebration on Saturday 18 April. From the moment the gates opened, the gardens came alive with families, friends, music, markets and a shared sense of something special.

As the sun set over King George Sound / Mammang Koort, our amphitheatre became a powerful stage for storytelling, movement and song, with breathtaking performances by Karla Hart Productions that will stay with us for a long time.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped create such a warm and vibrant festival atmosphere.
